You obviously don't get what's this about. Probably the only thing that stopped Russia and USA from wiping each other with either nukes or conventional was the fear of the other side doing the same. As both sides still have considerable nuclear arsenal, building an shield powerful enough to stop the other side is more as much as act of offense as of defense.

NK has a fairly good army, but it's their navy and air force that are greatly lacking, and all they have for nuclear weapons are a few short-range, glitchy missiles that could easily be shot down by enemy air forces before they could pose a threat to anyone. To most of NATO, especially China, UK, and US, NK is nothing but a pushover, though NK could easily be a dire threat to South Korea.

At the same time, it led to worldwide panic, propaganda schemes orchestrated by both the Allies and Soviets, 2 major wars, 1 of which the US got its ass kicked in, and the creation of world-annihilating nuclear weapons used by both sides.

Why would he want to? I really hate the way CoD and the like are making people think of russia as what it was back in the '80s - they are not going to start WW3 (and if they do Europe and America will probably be on Russia's side), they have no reason to attack us, we have no reason to attack them, they are not communist, they have too many internal problems to sort out already, and they are the US (and by extension Britain's) ally. Yeah I know CoD isn't pitting modern Russia as it is today against the SAS, but the idiots don't listen in the cutscenes anyway and just think "lol ruskies shoot dem reds".
