How do you think every country aside from America would like it if America started blowing shit up. The missile defense shield doesn't stop conventional weapons of war, and there would be a limit to the number of nukes America can use before fucking up the environment.

What is pointless though? To me and you, these leaders arguing over the shield is pointless. Arguing over which nation is better than the rest is pointless to me and you right? To them it's the way of life, they don't want to be conquered, to lose.
The point is, even if it really [i][b]is[/b][/i] pointless (not to say it isn't), to them it's not, and that's my point. To our leaders (who are in essence the nation themselves that they govern) this is as far from pointlessness as pointlessness gets. This is about being the best of the bunch. But it doesn't matter, I highly doubt the US will give a shit, they will probably see it as "what are they going to do? They obviously won't/can't build there own shield, they couldn't harm us (in that way of attack) either way" and build the damn thing anyway.

The Missile Defence that is being build all around russia is bullshit, their country is a mere shadow of itself from the 80's when Soviet Union was on it's highest. Hadn't it collapsed the United States would have a real reason to put up such a defence system. Now it's just to piss them off and prevent them from retaliating when the USA starts throwing shit around. Atleast some countries next to russia are being fair and preventing any defence systems being build on it's soil.

Anyway I think the USA should be well within their right to build a shield. Obviously any [b]defensive[/b] measure should be allowed. Most of you are debating on the shield used as a weapon (USA becomes invincible and fires nukes everywhere) but it is truly a defense. I'm sure you won't be whining when it saves your asses when the middle eastern factions who've been buying "disarmed" nuclear weapons from Russia, begin firing at us.

In fact who even has the [b]capability[/b] to fire the US, lets see:
1. Korea: Those backwards fucking idiots cant even hit japan if they wanted to with their missiles, and even if they managed to get there by the grace of some fuckin higher power even got there, I doubt they would even detonate reliably.
2. China: Not sure they even have nuclear weapons but lets say they do, lets assume they are ex soviet so they may be able to reach the US and detonate properly. Now let's think why would china nuke the US, they're too busy industrialising their nation right now.
3. The EU: If i even have to explain this, then you should have been killed at birth so that someone else could make use of your oxygen.

So they can figure out a way to pass the shield? US and Russia really does not like each other, it is like those people you can just stand but really don't talk with them. I agree I like the idea of US making deffense tech than just plain old offense tech could make a diffrence, but I would also feel safer with a few of those nukes online just incase.

But they wont, they act all badass out there mainly because there so far out there, it is like when someone says shit then you ask them to say it to your face, yea they will have long range rockets but they don't have a fighting force to actually invade us.
