Doubt we have the money to add a month of school to EVERY school
I suppose then I need to really know about ancient civilizations and every single word in the diction...BULLSHIT! If you do want to be a historian or some kind of writer be my guest. I want to pursue a career in videogame development. I don't need to know the exact details behind homer writing down the odyssey, european formation, reading useless passages from a fucking anthology. I do understand that I need to know basic social skills such as basic maths, writing, reading, speech and vocabulary, basic understanding of important events in history for how the world goes 'round properly. If you really think you're going to go into a field like lets say automotive engineering will you need to know the principals of ancient literature? No, what you say is completely wrong. I'm sure most teachers would even agree with me, I think they'd be much happier if they had students that would attentively and excitedly listen and learn what they were being taught. Instead of having students that fail the class just 'cause they think it's boring and stupid.
Oh yeah, so we should let you leave high school prepared to do video game programming and nothing else. What happens when you cannot get a job in Video game programming? What happens when you want to go to college and they test your English knowledge? Should we completely lose the standard of having general knowledge of all subjects before entering college? [editline]08:08PM[/editline] You have no idea how anything in the real world works, do you?
Now this is one of the dumbest things I have heard in this thread yet. I suppose in this perfect world no one would have anything better than a vocational education? There is a reason we do not specialize until college and nothing you learn in highschool is useless.
Yeah that's pretty dumb. I had no idea I wanted to be a physicist until midway through high school so if I had started to specialize classes randomly before then I might have been fucked. Also freakyme holy shit I remember you from forever ago
I love how all the school kids think it is a terrible idea. School is fun and easily the easiest part of your life, learn to love it.

Nobody should be forced to decide what they are going to do for the rest of their lives that early. Also, nice to be remembered lol.
I love how all the school kids think it is a terrible idea. [editline]03:23AM[/editline]
I'm done with highschool but I still have 2 years left in my education. my dad always gave me 3 options: college, military, or gay porn. I chose college. I'm damn near fed up with school though and I'm starting to regret not going into gay porn
Should've chose the fourth option, boot to the head, legging it, and taking up Ostrich wrangling.
I love how all the school kids think it is a terrible idea. School is fun and easily the easiest part of your life, learn to love it.
Correction: Sitting on your lazy ass playing video games, browsing facepunch, watching movies, porn, is the easiest part of your life. And the most fun, DON'T YOU FUCKING DENY IT.
Oh dear god no. I spend my summer thinking up all these cool projects to do during summer, only to find the school year has started when I decide I want to get them done. God damn it, I want some me time. I am not a good fit for school. I score well on tests. I get the subjects before the rest of the class. The only thing I can't do is the fucking WORK. If I have to stay another month tediously filling out forms and filling out essays based on questions I don't even feel comfortable answering, I'm going to start having some serious anger management issues. (And yeah, the educational system is pretty horrible right now.)
Fuck that one more year after this year then college, where my real education starts hopefully. High school is a fucking joke.
40 weeks isn't that hard. Really.
I prefer quality of education over quantity of education.
I love how all the school kids think it is a terrible idea.
Foreign language programs should also be mandatory. I wish I was made to learn a foreign language when I was 8.
I'm pretty sure it's mandatory in my school, although I don't have it this year, so I'm not sure.
Foreign language programs should also be mandatory. I wish I was made to learn a foreign language when I was 8.
rofl no that's a good joke though

I actually kinda do miss going to school. No suprises (except for a pop quiz), everything and everyone is wear you expect them to be. You get out of school at the nicest time of the day, etc... I was just day dreaming about being back in my social studies class, but now I need to get to bed because I have to go to work in the morning :(
Why don't we just tell Jack Thompson that if this happens people will be more inclined to play violent video games. And then they will make sure this doesn't happen just to shut him up.

what we need to do is stop making school mandatory for kids by law if they don't appreciate education, it's not our choice to force them to be in school. seriously, you guys are whiners. i bet you guys are the type of kids who goes home because of a stomach ache :(
what we need to do is stop making school mandatory for kids by law
Something tells me that really won't help.... because we really need all the high-school stoners able to wander the streets at will? America is already in the shitter, the least we can do is to keep what little smartness we have left. [editline]04:48AM[/editline] Hmm... why does this thread make it sound like "WE" are the ones making these decisions....

If they do, then it's the students. They're not the one doing your work, you are. It's student's responsibility to write their shit down. Then they rather talk about games and pop culture shit, then get an 'F' for not paying attention, then they cry about how poor quality their education system is. I ain't the brightest guy around since I'm bit poor at the moment, but even then, school wasn't that hard for me. Maybe it's because I actually did my work rather than cry about stuff. I still remember having to get a fever to go home rather than relying on a poor old stomach aches. Now I await people saying they are 4.0 GPA students and how totally wrong I am while rating me dumb.
No... I think that people should leave things the way they are and focus on the real issues. Such as the money it would cost to do this could be used to... i don't know. Pay off the zillions we owe in debt?
I graduate this year
