[editline]04:15PM[/editline] Yes, but the point is that the US education system is a steaming pile of crap. Adding more days of crap won't do us any good.
the 'crap' are students. stop complaining/whining and do your work for once, maybe then, you won't blame the teachers for kid's laziness. you'll be astounded how much you're rewarded for picking up your pencil and writing something rather than talking about videogames with your friends in class
how about we cut $50 billion dollars from the ridiculous military budget, and give each state a billion dollars to use for public education.
and then we cant afford fighters and guns and stuff when a foreign army invades the United States because we have no military funds, and the ones we had were wasted on iraq and afganistan
Foreign language programs should also be mandatory. I wish I was made to learn a foreign language when I was 8.
You have to take two years of foreign language in high school in california [editline]03:51PM[/editline]
and then we cant afford fighters and guns and stuff when a foreign army invades the United States because we have no military funds, and the ones we had were wasted on iraq and afganistan
Because there's a country that's actually going to invade the US Alright man

Well, not all of them, anyway. I agree, work ethic is incredibly important to success. However, it doesn't really help if the system is terrible. Also, accusing me of that is really immature. Even if you didn't mean me, the accusatory tone in general is something to avoid in a discussion like this.
Fuck Obama.
and then we cant afford fighters and guns and stuff when a foreign army invades the United States because we have no military funds, and the ones we had were wasted on iraq and afganistan
lol. do you know how big the budget is? 50 billion is barely a fraction of what it really is. and for another thing no foreign army would waste time trying to invade the US.
Or we could just increase the hours in school and less homework. But this is just me in a mood of hating school
Or we could give everyone a stick and a stone and send them to Texas. Things are fine how they are! Let idiots be idiots. And smart people be smart people. I know teens everywhere will rejoice at more school. And there will be fewer school shootings. And fewer teen pregnancies, and fewer cases of drug abuse. And fewer teens with ulcers. Yeah.
This is just going to cost tax payers more money in the end, when the country is already severely in debt. If anyone wants education in the US improved, they need to stop the bullshit "busy work" that most schools pride themselves on, and actually have some decent teachers and curriculum. The problem is, adapting current students to a higher standard would require most of them to attend night classes and summer school to catch up.

The best thing to do is to first improve the education system then add the extra month. Adding dicks into a bag of dicks wont make it less dickish. However if the system can get fixed then yes the extra time is befefical. Kids in the states are growing up at a disadvantage because they are too fucking lazy to go to school for the extra 50-60 days kids in germany have. In the states there is 160-180 days in a school year. In germany it is 260-270.

Stop over-crowding classes and start paying teachers what they deserve to deal with a bunch of shithead teenagers all day.
I agree, we need to improve on the education, but not only in that way. Just look at the Texas school board.
Remove the clubs and sports programs? I mean school is for learning not throwing a ball into the air and such.
Not. Fucking. Happening.
Remove the clubs and sports programs? I mean school is for learning not throwing a ball into the air and such.
That's an even worse idea.
That's even worse of an idea.
Why?
Why?
Because our obesity rate will skyrocket and kids will get no exercise at all. If I wasn't part of a sports team, I would be terribly out of shape.
Heres an idea, lets get books in our highschools that aren't from the 80's. :frogdowns: [editline]09:50PM[/editline]
Remove the clubs and sports programs? This is so late it isn't funny. Obama's got other things to worry about now.
This is retarded. Basically, the teachers are the huge problem at school. Most of them are huge dim-witted fucks with no heart. In Virginia, alot of Counties/Cities have fired every teacher at certain schools. You people are saying Teacher pay is low? Haha, 55,000 USD is NOT low. A starting pilot makes 22,000.. Also Bush's "No Child Left Behind" helped somewhat. It is mainly a huge reason I pass most of my classes, because the test we take at the end of a Semester/Year are so damn easy that it is like a free pass.
Remove the clubs and sports programs? I mean school is for learning not throwing a ball into the air and such.
Looks like someone didn't make the team. *pat on back*
This is retarded. Basically, the students are the huge problem at school. Most of them are huge dim-witted fucks with no motivation to do their work.
i fixed it for you, don't blame the teachers, they didn't go through years of college to become one for noting.
i fixed it for you, don't blame the teachers, they didn't go through years of college to become one for noting.
That's what my History teacher basically explained. Since everyone in the system who is a citizen and isn't a first generation child basically feels they don't need to do shit. The students with immigrants for parents work much harder because they understand the struggle for education where our kids go, "HERP DERP FUCK SCHOOL! ITS FOR THE MAN TO CONTROL US!" Do your work and fix it. Don't complain its a steaming pile of crap and just hold a flag up. Because it'll get knocked down eventually. GET A FUCKING BULLDOZER MAN!
I went to summer school once. I learned more in 3 weeks than I did in 4 years of English class. You work your fucking ass off for 3 weeks, and then it's over. I wish all my schooling had been like that, maybe 4 months out of the year to cover all the curriculum.. [editline]07:14AM[/editline]
isn't reducing holidays and adding more schooldays essentially the same thing.
No, Obama is going to add another month to the calender to compensate.

At least now that those hippies have banned child labor. [editline]07:16AM[/editline]
No, Obama is going to add another month to the calender to compensate.
I fucking knew it, fucking communist.
Could always put together some sort of job program for the other six months. (this would apply to highschool students, I mean) They could go to school, and then do a paid job or volunteer work for 3-4 months, and then have the summer off. I wouldn't call it child labor at that age, though I suppose other people would.
Shame on all of you 12 year olds who are still at school. But seriously i'm from the UK and now i've started uni its obvious that certain international students are way ahead of what we've been taught in certain situations.
