I have yet to see verifiable statistics on the subject instead of anecdotes and single examples.

I think we can agree that both sides are trash at this moment and we need to figure out what went wrong. The divide between the left and the right is so deep at this point that nothing can get done. The divisiveness of this election, regardless of the cause, is something that needs to be countered.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the left is being more violent, for the reasons I explained above. The right aren't afraid, and they aren't angry, while the left are. But it's for a lot more reasons than "they lost"

They've been taught, from the day they were born, that the white, male power structure is out to get them. Everyone in their bubble believes it from their family to their professors to their friends. They see that power structure as malicious in intent and dangerous in effect. The rational response is to fight against it, even if it takes violence. Comparing Trump and his supporters to Hitler isn't ironic to them. It's a valid comparison, and who would fault someone for violently fighting back against Hitler?

Looking at the roots of the problem rather than blanket condemnation. Now if you want to quell the violence, you need to address the fears these people have. Attempt a dialogue and consider their point of view. Prove that there's nothing to fear.
