Profiling is a big no in my book, although Valve doesn't seem to be shoving it in your face like Amazon does (yet)
Why? Basically all it does is go "You have purchased these games. These are the most common attributes associated with these games. These other games also have these attributes highly tagged. Recommend these games. Your friends play these games the most, they have these attributes associated with them. These other games also have these attributes highly tagged. Recommend a few of these games."

that really sums it up
profiling can be good and bad
in this case it can result in "Less bullshit" showing up
it's not like they're creating a personality profile and tracking information about you while rubbing their hands. people have a seriously warped idea of what they're doing. They say "profiling" as if it's a completely negative word.
Since it updated my client has been doing this

Anyone else?
When sorting by price with the filter set to just games, it took me 14 pages to reach games that were for sale and not free-to-plays, demos or trailers, even after I filtered out trailers.
I wouldn't consider 3/4 of those as titles though...
Valve is struggling with the fact that I can count a given year's big PC titles on one hand. They're taking the app store/Netflix approach: Pad your library with shitty indie titles to camouflage how little worthwhile content you actually have.

Zero surprises
What I find odd is my chrome extension is saying 90% of reviews for a game is negative while the new steam page says 55% of reviews for the game are positive. I'm more inclined to believe my chrome extension.

Unlike a lot of their recent additions/changes, this is not useless. This was a much needed change that the store's been needing ever since Greenlight/Early Access became a thing.

people like to complain even when they add something massively useful
steam isn't even that resource hungry or laggy. For all i know it could be your hardware personally. I ran it perfectly fine, even on my old 2009 tier computer
better than origin at least

64 bit would be AMAZING
I and all the other admins of our group got Road Redemption for free from the developers due to our group being within the first 2-4 pages of curators. Thanks valve I love you.
Why do I think this is going to become a controversial matter eventually?
Why do I think this is going to become a controversial matter eventually?
because people will bitch about literally everything regardless of how positive it is
free portal for everyone? people bitch about how slow the servers are and that they can't download their free game
steam for mac? people bitched that it wasn't perfect enough despite revolutionizing the market for mac and gaming.
I don't know, I think the curator system is great.

I was under the impression that Origin was actually an extremely good client itself. The service isn't that bad, either, from what I remember

Origin is much cleaner and faster.
Just lacks features but that's not really a bad thing as a secondary download platform.
I think EA's gamble paid off. I'd still rather have their games on Steam instead but from a business standpoint it's great. The money back guarantee and their new ideas like the trial system and on-the-house free game things are great steps forward, if only to force Steam to improve.
The ability to open new tabs within steam was awesome enough, now this? I'm really starting to enjoy the direction steam is headed, it looks and works so much better than before and it seems to keep getting better.
Reading totalbiscuits reviews on games, and see he didn't like Papers Please, how the fuck could anyone not like Papers, Please?

hasn't he gone on the record saying he doesn't like puzzle games?
i do not like him but being able to see the merit in something despite not liking it is an important quality to have if you are a critic. so good on him i suppose
no FOV slider
(seems he likes to complain that his ~ super rig ~ cannot be maxed something something sliders)
Like how you give shit to TB for doing something literally nobody else does, which is examining if basic PC features for games that should have it are present. I'm definitely never going to buy a First Person Shooter if I can't change the FOV to something not vomit-inducing or if it has a stupid frames-per-second lock that has no reason of existing. I'm also never going to buy it if the game has horrendous performance on his machine because I have a much weaker computer so there would be no way in hell I could run it.
Also, the exact quote for Papers Please is "I don't like this game, but I respect it. It made manning a passport station gripping and challenging, though it's certainly a grim tale." I don't know how you could interpret it any other way than "It's a good game, but it's not my kind of game". If you click on "full review" it brings you to his "WTF Is..." video where he seems to enjoy his time with it quite a bit.
Give shit to TB if you must but don't give us bullshit reasons for it.

I edited that to be more of a joke like I originally intended a while ago,
but for real any time I've seen one of his videos
it seems like he tries to brag about how great his computer is half the time
possible to mention fps locks
without mentioning how expensive your computer is several times
