And what makes you so sure?
(because you admitted to not playing the entire game, and thus couldn't possibly know what the game could mature to. For all you know, it could turn into a first person cooking simulator.)
Because I refuse to complete a game I deem as shit? I don't have to play the entire game to form an opinion that the platforming is lackluster and shit. And people telling me the platforming being the shitstain it is on purpose isn't a valid argument. When a game has to have one of it's BIGGEST MECHANICS dismissed then there's clearly something wrong and it just makes me think the people who bought this game are in denial.
I don't care what opinion you come to. Just don't act like you know what the entire game is like if you haven't played all of it.
Yes you can...? That's why demos exist in the first place.
You're seriously not going to argue that demos represent entire products, right?

And I never claimed to know what the entire game is like.
Have you not noticed my entire argument is about how stupid the dismissal of the platforming being lackluster is? I can form an opinion on the mechanics off of a demo, ya know.
You can't form an opinion on the entire game by playing a single level, and that's what t-sonar.0 is doing. He's deeming the entire game to be shit because he played a demo and didn't like it.

I can play the first level of Super Mario Brothers and form an opinion of the game because the first level shows off right away how the game works, as well as what to expect from the game.
You're missing my point entirely. A video game is not like a book. There is not much else to elaborate on Fez's gameplay, because Fez does not have the same depth as a book does. You cannot collect much more information about Fez from playing the game in it's entirety besides the story, because all of the platforming is shown in the first few levels. Stop making the analogy that a Video game is like a book, because a book is very different from a video game.
The platforming

Then you don't make it a large part of the game. Plain and simple.
It's a shame to see people get so worked up about this. If you don't like it, move on. There are plenty of game experiences out there that you do enjoy to bother wasting time on something you don't. Must be a real bummer for Polytron's programmer Renaud Bédard. Working on this project for like 5 years and then seeing it being torn apart because of his loudmouth colleague.
Personally, I love Fez, and the way the music totally enhances the atmosphere. The soundtrack and the way it integrates into the game is probably one of the main reasons I'm starting in videogame composing.
What's even more exciting is that in the video description it says "by Polytron and Disasterpeace". He also made the soundtrack for the first game, so to see him credited this early on makes me think the audio will play an even bigger role. Definitely looking forward to it.
Not trying to sound 'holier-than-thou', but it's a shame that more people couldn't enjoy this game for its atmosphere and music, they are killer- regardless of what loud prick helped make the game.

I never said it was:
The platforming still sucks. If there is a game element that sucks, then it can hurt the quality of a game. Call of Duty has great atmosphere for what it is trying to do. But the gameplay, that is, the thing that provides the player to progress along with the story and atmopshere, sucks. In fact, it sucks enough for Call of Duty to be a bad game. Fez, has atmosphere, as well as puzzles, but the platforming sucks enough for it to hurt the game enough for me to think it's boring. The puzzles make up such of a small part of the game that I can't even think of it as a proper puzzle game. The game is shallow in it's gameplay and interactivity and for the most part makes it a bad game.

If you're seriously trying to argue that a puzzle game doesn't mature as it goes on then I'm not going to continue this discussion.
So then why is it that Puzzles make up a small percentage of the game? I only came across about 2 puzzles in the length of an hour, and each one took only 4 seconds to solve.
And I never claimed to know what the entire game is like.
You're not outright saying it, but you're sure as fuck acting like it.
The majority of time spent in Fez is platforming, and it's boring because there's nothing trying to stop you.

And you're forgetting the fact the majority of the game is walking around and platforming regardless of whether it's "supposed to be" a puzzle game.

Certainly doesn't mature to become a better platformer.

You're not outright saying it, but you're sure as fuck acting like it.
And am I not right? The two biggest pieces of Fez are puzzles and platforming. Do you not spend most of the time platforming to different locations to solve puzzles? It is a "platforming" puzzle game after all. Not like there's any other genre-specific mechanics in it so of course the majority of the game is going to be spent platforming.

Point and click isn't the focus of walking dead game either but its a massive part of it
must not be a point and click game
Walking deads point and click mechanic is purely a method to better tell the story, you know... its far more about interactivity, and fez has a different situation. But that doesn't make Walking dead a game that doesn't fall under point and click, thats fucking dumb.
how is that even an argument??? and why do you even give a shit what genre the game is called period? Who cares what genre it's labeled as! its called a platformer because in raw form thats EXACTLY what the game is.
The Game that didn't need a sequel got a sequel. :suicide: GOD DAMMIT
And am I not right? The two biggest pieces of Fez are puzzles and platforming. Do you not spend most of the time platforming to different locations to solve puzzles?
The difference between the two of us is that my answer to that is "I don't know, I haven't played the game."
The difference between the two of us is that my answer to that is "I don't know, I haven't played the game."
Like I said, it's easy to assume considering it's a platforming puzzle game. Seeing as how platforming the means to get around the world to reach puzzles and all... I mean, what else would you be doing?
Like I said, it's easy to assume considering it's a platforming puzzle game. I mean, what else would you be doing?
Unlike you, I'm not assuming anything because I haven't played the game.
...Except that this video is an actual legitimate review of the game? You're telling us that we didn't play the game, did you watch the video?
How about their Loudhouse spinoff? Or the minecraft video? Those videos weren't sarcastic and were actual critiques of the games that they showed.
Lmao. They're pretty much just Zero Punctuation, except they're so much worse at making jokes about how shit things are people think they're real reviewers.
Unlike you, I'm not assuming anything because I haven't played the game.
My god you're incredibly stubborn. You don't need to play an entire game to judge its mechanics. Is that really that hard to understand?
My god you're incredibly stubborn. You don't need to play an entire game to judge its mechanics. Is that really that hard to understand?
Maybe you should read posts before responding to them then, because I never argued with you about mechanics. I argued about how you act like you've played the entire game when you've barely played any of it.
Excuse me but I've played fez till the very end and I really thought it was a boring waste of time trying to hard to be art.
Meme jokes, qr codes and literally zero actual gameplay or penalties for you to be motivated.
Don't get me wrong no penalties can be good, journey taught me that but journey actually had some good art direction and a set goal.
Fez was just one banal pointless and pretentious puzzle from the next.
Just a personal opinion though.
Wow, now it all makes sense. You get your opinions from The Best Gamers. That's like getting your news from The Onion.

I love how FP always posts this video as some kind of golden truth in every Fez thread before forgetting to mention that The Best Gamers is a sarcastic reviewer group and it's literally the only negative "critic" review of the game
The Best Gamers were just joking around. Sometimes. But one of their main draws were that they weren't all the time, and that when they really got down to it they did it hard.
Compare their first Minecraft review

and their second

Are they both the same quality? Or was one, just maybe, a silly little bit of nonsense to lower your guard for the other?
Im not buying this nor the original Fez.
Not only do I not want to support pretentious indie developers (although I do support indie devs that are also good people), but the game just doesn't seem interesting at all anyway.
Im sure us "PC gaming peasants" can go enjoy a game of TF2 or Project Zomboid instead of this.
The Best Gamers were just joking around. Sometimes. But one of their main draws were that they weren't all the time, and that when they really got down to it they did it hard.
You can't only joke around only some of the time, because that just makes you bad at both. And I don't know what your definition of "getting down to it hard" includes, but mine doesn't include exaggerating clips of bugs for cheap hyperbole and judging sound or graphics based on their personal taste rather than in the context of it's own genre. These guys should have stuck to just pretending to be terrible reviewers.
