Good thing we scanner sweeped
You guys do realize NASA alters images all the time, right? The pictures you see of space are nothing like what they actually get
This
Nazi moon base.
Raw pictures.

Basically what happens is that the camera takes one red, one green and one blue picture.
By the time they are all taken, the objects move slightly, so it has to be stitched together and fixed up in Photoshop, so that it looks like it should.
I know people who do astrophotography.
They ALWAYS use photoshop to bring out the features, no editing, just levels of colour ,light/dark
Pretty much this.
Members of my astro society may have to take over 400 images just to combine them for a decent shot. NASA do this too.
wow those conspiracy theorists are fucking retarded
if they were trying to cover up something that fundamentally groundbreaking, why would they put it on a picture-of-the-day site
good god
"Hmm, that's a nice picture if it wasn't for the aliens, lets Photoshop them out and stick it up"
"Let's shop a picture to add a moon that really exists to make people rage on the internet."
So yeah, NASA shopped a picture so it's safe to assume they are covering up an alien fleet ready to invade earth on 2012.
some people are just stupid.
Why do people think NASA covers up aliens? If they did find aliens the first thing they'd is scream "Holy fuck guys, we fucking found ALIENS!"
Do these people not realise the massive amounts of cash NASA would get if they did find aliens?

The implications of finding aliens would go far beyond cash value. How to approach a sentient alien species, whether or not they're hostile, many different things.

People don't realize that the people at nasa aren't really like this

Or the more important question: Are we a more important ally than we are tasty?

My main concern with aliens would be farming of species on our planet for genetic research. Every developed planet in an evolutionary sense is going to be rich in information - effectively billions of years of research for the taking. Harvest a few of every species on a planet, maybe share information. Assuming there is other life on other planets there really wouldn't be a reason to kill us unless we posed a threat or our planet was need for mining/agricultural/expansion. In which case, given our relatively small numbers the planet could be shared.
Consumption of humans on the other hands, would not be advisable for alien species. It's likely life on another planet would develop in a different direction than ours. Nutrition wise we've got nothing to offer to an alien species. (most likely)
I want to see the original without it
Did you not read? It's a composite photo. That's the "shop."
But what could that aura possibly be, some kind of upper atmospheric event?
Dione has no atmosphere
pretty much all photos by nasa are photoshopped to bring out / hide colors, why don't people understand this
They're too stupid.
Aliens, or maybe some rainbow aurora make the picture look like shit.
I take option B for it making more sense.

We're useless to them as food but if they think we'd be useful as slaves we're fucked.
Lens flare, lets all move along.
They'll be more like this, the emplyees.

It's just like taking a photo at night time. You can't get any features to stand out without editing.
