Namco issues a DMCA takedown on the DSfix mod for Dark Souls

That sounds shoddy as fuck. I doubt Namco would give a shit about a mod, especially when it's been out for three years and they've likely known about it since day one.
And if it's about the debug .exe then good luck removing it because now that it's widespread on the internet.
Should respond with a magnet link of DSfix that comes with a cracked Dark Souls too, if they're going to cry DMCA might as well give them something to cry about
too bad it was already resolved

I just called Volker Rieck from FDS File Defense Service. They were indeed hired by Bandai Namco, but not the germany division, but the US one, to take down all the debug mode patches.
Dutante's DSfix was not part of the plan!
Mr. Rieck is currently writing emails to Namco and dropbox to clear everything. Durante is allowed to reupload the patch, there is nothing wrong with it.
Mr. Rieck was nice and took the time to explain the situation to me. I am currently on the phone, so I might add a bit more information when I come home in a few hours.
edit: also shame on the guy who send him a mail full of threats. He was a bit disturbed by that.
What are the debug mode patches? Do they infringe copyright?

It's a leaked .exe that you replace the basic .exe with and it enables a dev only debug mode that allows you to fuck around with the game in pretty much every way possible, including controlling bosses and such.
They're probably trying to take it down due to online related issues.
In my opinion there is still no reason to DMCA the shit out of that debug exe :/

WAIT NVM if you upload that debug exe to a file hoster it technically IS piracy, i'm dumb :c
I still dont know how to get the Debug .exe.

You can easily find it by just googling it. There's a rather complete thread on neogaf about it.

edit2: It was Bamco Europe who was asked by Bamco Japan, not US. Misremembered that, sorry!

Would anyone mind PM'ing me a link to the debug exe? It wouldn't be a smart idea to post a link in the thread I think.
-snip links in neogaf are dead-
Here's the neogaf thread about it.
