I wonder when we'll start hearing about the Clone Wars DLC and its exorbitant price tag.
Also, fairly disappointed by the small player limit. Probably means the maps are small too.
no space battles, an 'aggressive' dlc plan, and gear and progression that will likely l make shit onesided as hell for people that pay up or powergame
steadily more and more put off no matter how pretty it looks

well to be honest space battles were pretty much a circlejerk in battlefront 2
you grab a plane and rush over to the enemies ship and camp a corner with explosives consistently damaging and destroying their inner parts of the ship, or you camp them in the ship and keep shooting, or you spend +10 minutes in space consistently bombing the ship and its secondaries.
yes i know you could dog fight in space too but most of the time the enemy wins if all your doing is dogfighting.
the cool thing about space battles were how you were essentially dog fighting but in space, and i guess they plan to do it on the planet surface instead, which is what the previous two games lacked (in some planets only one side had the ability to fly ships). think of it like space battles, except it doesn't take place in space anymore and there are no destroyers or frigates. or maybe there are going to be destroyers and frigates camped up on the planets atmosphere as you see in the beginning of the video, maybe tie fighter pilots/y-bombers start on those ships and fly out shooting eachother.
as for gear and progression, it isn't as new for the battlefront series considering in battlefront 2, you could unlock elite versions of weapons that did way more damage and fired faster, etc.
i only hope the progression isn't a grind.

First off I'm not sure that's the right use of the word 'circlejerk'.
Second, that isn't the case on crowded multiplayer servers. Players are too good at dogfighting to let enemy ships and bombers slip through. They're too good at shooting to let you camp in their ship the whole round.
These criticisms are doubly false in Space CTF, where dogfighting is a sound plan and there's little benefit in destroying the inner parts of the ship.

This is something that Battlefront II lacked because they moved the fighters into space.
The original Battlefront, on the other hand, has maps where you dogfight on the ground. In particular I know that Dune Sea, Platforms and Spire have fighters for both sides.

Yes but in multiplayer you had to reunlock them for every game. I want each round to start with a level playing field, and I really don't want the game to punish me for playing less than someone else.

Why do you think unlockable gear would make people stronger, Battlefield has a lot of unlockable gear, but a level 1 player can kill a level 50 just as easily with the starting gear as advanced stuff, the only separating trait will be skill, and pretty much every game with a progression system is like that.
Shame they'll probably use the bullshit "battlepacks" system.
Battlepacks in BF4 didn't add anything extra grind or anything that wasn't there in 3.
Maybe they will supplement the low player count with NPC's
that's terrible
that's terrible
TitanFall did that to a pretty good effect and IIRC, the original BF games also had the maps largely populated with allied and enemy npc's.

That's why it has the same name I guess
I love buying the same game for the same price a decade later!!!

No way it looks as amazing as it does in that video yet gets 60FPS on PS4, considering how games look now and struggle to get 30
I'm still in doubt that this game is actually coming out this year honestly. Judging by other games that have come out it looks leaps and bounds better than anything else released so far, and current cutting edge stuff still looks pretty damn good. I've gotten the feeling that "CG looking" games were a ways off considering how this current generation has been going so far.
Only 40 players..
Fucking hell. I expected they'd at least do 64, and hoping for 128.

bf4 on ps4 is one of the few games that can do 60fps (albeit at 900p) and it looks pretty damn good regardless
Split screen on PC please

Really? With those screenshots? I hope the downgrade isn't too harsh
So many idiots are spouting out misinformation everywhere.
Like god damned. It's getting old going where people twist anything that comes out from Dice for more reasons to cry "BATTLEFRONT IS DEAD"
Shame they'll probably use the bullshit "battlepacks" system.
How exactly is having a random chance to unlock more items on top of the regular unlock system bullshit?
Apart from charging for them (which they don't do until a while into the game's life, by which point most players will already have most unlocks) there really isn't anything wrong with battlepacks.
For as long as I played Battlefront II, yesterday I found out it had a first person camera. All my life I've been playing it in third.

I am not buying this then.
I hope they do eventually offer space battles even if it is a DLC. Imagine how sick it'd be if there were more than one big cruiser (or battleship? Whatever, like the Star Destroyers) on each side and they could be properly destroyed unlike in BF2. Why not have them be controlled by the players too.
Space battles were kinda weak in BF2 but that's not to say it can't be done properly.
I am super excited.
Well, thank fuck they confirmed that there's bots. I'd be pissed if there weren't any cos I'd like to play offline every once in awhile. I hope bots will addon to the 40 player count, making battles look more huge something like what Titanfall did with bots running around along with actual players
40 players with npcs sounds perfect to me. this way it isn't absolute caos and you actually feel like you're doing something! just image a game with 128 players.. explosions everywhere and you'll just feel like cannon food.
Yeah, throwing more players into a map doesn't automatically make the game better.
If 40 is the magic number for Battlefront, that's fine with me. If it goes the Titanfall route and adds NPC grunts to the battlefield to make it seem more alive, then so be it. I'd love to see what DICE can do when tasked with reinventing a classic multiplayer franchise. People are way to quick to jump on the "everything is terrible" bandwagon these days; especially when we haven't even seen the actual gameplay yet.

My experience with BATTLEpacks was that I opened literally like 50 of them at once because I hadn't really paid attention to them accumulating in my inventory, most of them containing a knife..
And boy did they drastically upgrade the amount of knives in BF4 from BF3. :v:
