In the end, you people give animals WAY more attention than they deserve. I think it's fine if you want to keep an animal because it's cute and nice, and keeps you company, but I believe they're expendable resources to be used for the accomplishment of the above. I keep a bird in my room, and I would feel bad if it died. I wouldn't grieve, though, and I could replace it with one in an instant.
