Chloe Sagal, indie developer who's campaign to save her own life was cancelled has attempted suicide

i live a privileged life that hasn't faced any actual grief other than money problems and getting dumped by my girlfriend, but i'll make up a fake sob story in the internet bullshitting that i faced a hard life so i can seem justified condemning a girl who tried to commit suicide
im such a good person!
Has IndieGoGo responded to this yet?
[QUOTE=jordguitar;40624970]A pump will not take them out and depending on how many and what kind it can be lethal and they would need to go in and take them out.[/QUOTE]
There wouldn't be anything done after "pumping the stomach" it takes the stomach around 30 minutes to absorb medication into the blood stream so that means that anything that didn't come out initially; they wouldn't do anything after besides supportive therapy And other emergent care as necessary (not surgery) for symptoms of overdosage.
actually i'm pretty sure they don't pump the stomach anymore, they make you drink this charcoal stuff.
I think they do but it's under worst case, like if they can't get it up any other way. I haven't had to have mine pumped so I have no idea, truthfully.

In the emergent care setting its usually the first choice (activated charcoal). It binds with the medication and kind of negates the effects of it, other then that it's inducing vomiting. Though I haven't worked in the emergency room for awhile (I'm stuck in mental health) so I'm not sure what all the options are. Only thing I'm sure of is activated charcoal and induced vomiting (I'm a hospital corpsman, I work at an active duty naval hospital).

At this point their lawyers have likely hidden all of their keyboards so they can't fuck themselves over.
well i have been to the hospital and they give you a charcoal smoothie.
it absorbs everything in your stomach then you shit it out the next day in the crazy ward...

That only works for some things

Sounds about right. Although I've only been on the other side of the glass :P (ward personnel).
[QUOTE=Zeke129;40625122]That only works for some things[/QUOTE]
well i mean if you eat something toxic or something they're going to pump your stomach
but the "things" that this works for are for pills because as someone had already said, if you're oding on pills pumping the stomach isn't going to do much.
I think the first set of fingers should be pointed at the family who disowned her and were more than willing to just let her die rather than Indiegogo.
yeah it's kinda strange to me that she has a family and yet has to rely on the internet for money...
are they such assholes they didn't even try to pitch in?
and wasn't she going to die anyways without the surgery? a horrible slow and painful death?
you ask me she was just expediting things and ending her own suffering. seems perfectly reasonable to me.

but no YOU GOTTA LIVE LIFE AND FIX IT AND FACE IT AND MAN UP AND BLA BLA BLA
tell a terminally ill cancer patient to MAN UP AGAINST UR CANCER AND FIGHT IT LIKE A MAN. to their face. then don't kill yourself. then come back here and continue to spew bullshit.

bunch of fuckin tough guys who've never even remotely been there before.
I find it funny people think this wasnt a scam.
Firstly, what the fuck is metal poisoning? Lead poisoning and metal poisoning doesnt match on Google, and I sure as fuck never heard about the former.
Secondly, proof of her dire need for operation? No idea how it is there, but common practice on Russian forums to present medical papers of illness and medical bill.

Yes, they're the sort of assholes who disown their own child because they're transgender.
wow that... can we go and do something about these "parents"?
[editline]13th May 2013[/editline]
that's beyond asshole
[editline]13th May 2013[/editline]
that's just fuckin cold as shit
[editline]13th May 2013[/editline]
cold as a fuckin 2 month old polar bear turd in the dead of the arctic winter.

Welcome to the (sadly common) fate of a large number of transgender Americans.
I live in the SF area so that's pretty common around here...
you'd think parents would be more accepting of it. not really, around here more kids come out but the same amount of parents freak out.
Anyone know what happened in the stream?

Usually streams made by someone threatening suicide or indirectly hinting at it, are closed down faster than you can blink with your eyes.

she took some pills fell asleep then the cops arrived.
Surely this is more the failing of the American healthcare system than anything else?

The American health system carries a large part of the blame.
The other big part is on the parents & other family members who downright shunned her.
And then there's some leftovers spread among retards like those pictured here:

Well, at least she did it "easy" for herself.

I wouldn't say it's near the top at all. The hundreds of thousands of people calling her a lying whore and going internet detective to try and prove she was a worthless human being is probably it. To be completely honest, if I was dying a slow, painful death, reached out to the internet to help, and had the last remaining parts of my life shattered, I probably wouldn't be able to handle it either.
I just hope she's alive.

Well the American healthcare system is shitty as hell, so I think it's safe to put a rather big share of the blame on it.

In a sense. Medical care here is fucked up. Its almost impossible for you to pay for anything on your own without paying for health insurance, and even then its still expensive. Generally even with health insurance you still typically have to pay even more to actually go see a doctor. Surgeries are a especially risky area. Most health insurance providers won't cover any sort of risky or pretty much not main-stream/low risk surgeries leaving those who need something they won't provide to pay out of pocket for the insanely expensive surgery because malpractice insurance needed by doctors and surgeons is so expensive.
Essentually health insurance in the US is costly, and only covers basic things like check-ups and ER visits while most serious things leave you high and dry with a very expensive bill. Normally though hospitals are very willing to work out payment plans that you can meet and so it doesn't completely break your bank.

I can't imagine the idea of having to pay to not die.
