It's depressing to see this all happen.
Unless I'm missing information, it doesn't seem like Indiegogo conducted a thorough enough investigation into the situation before pulling her funding. I certainly can't blame them for being skeptical; you don't want to be a victim of fraud after all, but a person's life is an extremely serious issue and one that's deserving of the most critical of investigations.
I want to see what you're basing this off of, that they didn't conduct a thorough investigation. And sure, I won't argue that if what's being alleged is true that what Indiegogo did was a dick move, it's still not their responsibility to save anybody's life and it's not their responsibility that she killed herself. I hope some more information surfaces by the time I wake up.
its like im really in a time loop whrer you stupid fucks get into the same timeless "arguments" OVER AND OVER
Welcome to gender based threads on facepunch. I'm honestly surprised the usual suspects haven't shown up yet.
Facepunch claims to be progressive and open minded, but once transgenderism is related, the tables turn, and we have people left and right jumping in yelling out rubbish claims about transgender people and the problem at hand, saying things that aren't even true, getting their information off of some sketchy site made in the late 90s [or something like that.] People are assholes, they fail to see the severity of the issue, and just rail on them, over and over, thinking they're right and just about it. It depresses me, a lot, and it hurts me, because I'm transgendered, and people laugh at me and make fun of me, believing to be above me.
This world would be a better place if people could respect others, even if they internally disagree with there personal choices.
theres pain, that fucker with the rainbow gif, shad, maybe max who else
does yawmwen count

It's like you can be anything on the planet here and be accepted, but as soon as you mention you are transgender you get drawn and quartered by the same group of people that think "hey, discrimination is awesome lmao"
This world would be a better place if people could respect others, even if they internally disagree with there personal choices.
The problem with situations like this is that they can be prevented, but it's always people that have to come in and fuck it up, either by denying someone the healthcare they desperately need to survive, or verbally abusing them on a website. The problem is people, it's always been people and it'll always be people. Life doesn't suck, people suck, life isn't shit, people are shit, and it's situations like these that cause me to become more and more cynical about humanity as a whole. Like seriously, a lot of those comments on her Youtube video are fucking pathetic, how do these people sleep at night? I don't rightly get people a lot of the time because of shit like this. Everyone always talks about how great it is to be alive in this time and age, but then shit like this happens, and it reminds me just of how evil some people are, it's sickening.
theres pain, that fucker with the rainbow gif, shad, maybe max who else
maybe people are fucking tired of other people needlessly shitting on transgenders or other issues?
maybe people are fucking tired of other people needlessly shitting on transgenders or other issues?
well no shit
she wanted her friends to not blame themselves
What she wanted and what her friends are going to feel is going to be completely different.
I want to see what you're basing this off of, that they didn't conduct a thorough investigation. Now from what I've read, all Indiegogo has said on the matter is that they saw "suspicious activity." Quite frankly, that's not a good enough explanation.
theres pain, that fucker with the rainbow gif, shad, maybe max who else
Whoa look out, people defending something they believe in. I can't stop the presses any harder than I did.
This pisses me off. I followed the Indiegogo and supported it while it was up.
Hey Gestapo leave I hate that you are contributing to a discussion and talking about things that are related to this discussion
Ok fine, go ahead and post about how stupid this thread is and how we're all dumb for posting in it. That will totally contribute to this discussion.
Holy fuck, I feel like shit, now. I wish there was something I could have done. Sucks seeing a person already dead, and knowing there was nothing you could do to save them...
Unless I'm missing information, it doesn't seem like Indiegogo conducted a thorough enough investigation into the situation before pulling her funding. If their fraud detection is triggered, then the funding is canceled and money returned to anyone who donated.

It is her responsibility to prove her cause was genuine, not Indiegogo's. The burden of proof is hers. What happened to prevent her from bringing forward such papers? Was it a simple communication error, or ignorance or even malice on one or both of their parts? That's what's fishy to me.
Whoa look out, people defending something they believe in.
They have something in place that detects fraud, it has nothing to do with investigations. We're just going to accept that without knowing anything about how such a system works?

Did they investigate or simply respond to reports and assume it was indeed fraud? I think we're in need of some transparency on that.
see now we're doing something different, i like this not slamming you or the crew or what you guys do at all because it is the perfect right thing to do, instead im commenting on how you have the drive to do it everytime some inane retarded shit on facepunch starts something up
something about the definition of insanity would have made me quit ages ago. in fact, it already has.
I can completely understand Indiegogo's point of view on this one. They want to run a funding platform, not a begging/charity platform. The game was obliously not the focus of the campaign. If this one was let through it several "I'm poor"/"I'm suicidal"/"Please donate" campaigns may have followed. Too bad about US healthcare and her suicide though.
They have something in place that detects fraud, it has nothing to do with investigations. If their fraud detection is triggered, then the funding is canceled and money returned to anyone who donated.
I really feel like this system should be more or less that it stops funding temporarily, flags it for a moderator to check, and then gets the go ahead if everything checks out. In the end, it is really shitty that someone had to die for such a stupid reason. Whether you place the blame on Indiegogo (which really was only a small part of the problem that snowballed), the ridiculously fucking stupid parents, or the equally stupid insurance company, someone dying is tragic.

I don't talk to any of the people you mentioned, I don't really like how they seem to have a made a joke of themselves over defending things the way they do, but I support them defending it at the very least. You have me sound like a pirate or a sailor or something.
