• Is 'Rango' Too Adult for Kids?
I hate the stupid sterotype of "anything kids see in a movie makes them want to do it in real life" Not all kids are socially akward downies with IQ in the single digits and with a willpower as strong as a hunk of wet cardboard. Also notice how in movies people do heroic acts and you don't see kids jumping into burning buildings to save someone.
You've obviously never met a fireman :colbert:
Kids don't smoke because they saw a cartoon lizard or camel and it thinks it will make them look cool. Same shit that happened with Joe Camel just different time.
This is why our media is filled with politically correct bullshit. Soccer moms who let the TV babysit for them while they stuff microwavable dinners down their kids throats.
Another cry from an oversensitive and overprotective world....what a surprise....
I want to see this, but none of my friends wants to.
You should, I really enjoyed it. It's the Wild West for fuck sake. People smoked. Get over it.
This is a stupid argument. I just watched Rango tonight, and I hardly noticed the fact of them smoking. That may be just because of me being used to seeing cigarettes all the time because my parents smoke, so these people should not be quick to jump the gun on this. They're being overly paranoid about the fact that movies will instantly brainwash their children into smoking. To be honest, I noticed the presence of a lot of profanity (swear words, crude jokes) than the smoking scenes. It was set in an Old Western town, after all. That's just my two cents, though. Obviously there will be arguments and bias on my side.
Let me guess, if we replace it with lollipops, soccer moms will complain that it will cause obesity and high blood pressure. It we replace it with toothpicks, they will complain that their kids will poke out their gums.
You guys just don't understand how bad this can be for our children. Think of the repercussions, people. The young minds of children are easily impressible, and showing smoking to them will make it clear in their mind that it is right to smoke. For this reason, an R rating is clearly warranted.
Someone think of the children
As a smoker myself, when I see a person light up it makes me want to light up. But as a kid I was disgusted when I saw people smoke and never thought of starting myself. I started smoking because I decided I didn't care what other people think.

I knew this movie was going to be good.
If Rango the talking fictional lizard smokes, than so can i :D I'll be just like him
Reach for the stars
I watched Stephen King's it when I was a little kid but I didn't turn into a clown and go around ripping off some kid's arm
Reach for the stars
There's a snake in my boot.
When I saw 'too adult for kids' I expected it to actually be something serious.
I didn't notice a single smoker
I didn't notice a single smoker
That's because it's a Western, you take the smoking as a given.
I haven't even watched the movie but it has already caused me to start smoking 15 cigarettes at the same time. At least it isn't as bad as the time when I skinned dogs for fashionable clothes after watching 101 Dalmatians.
Nobody noticed the inbreeding or lesbian jokes, but they noticed the smoking? Really? Awesome fucking movie by the way.
I want to see this film, it looks very good.
They said the same thing about Donald Duck with plentiful of smoking and Nazi characters
Bigotry at its best.
Nobody noticed the inbreeding or lesbian jokes, but they noticed the smoking? Really? Awesome fucking movie by the way.
Because soccer moms need to complaing about something a lot less dangerous like smoking instead of violence and sexual innuendos.
I watched Titanic as a little child and it didn't make me want to go fuck in cars and sink ships Oh wait, yes it did
I didn't notice a single smoker
That's because they all smoke in small groups.
I saw the movie and was more surprised at characters yelling "GO TO HELL" "GOD DAMMIT I'M FROM THE BOWELS OF HELL ITSELF" and other such things
"Oh no, an animated character smoking, my children will probably rob and kill and take drugs after seeing this!"
Really? Wow, thats... Something very stupid to whine about. Its as if people nowadays were out there to find ANYTHING that could do arm to you or your kids. Better wrap your kids in bubblewrap.
