Wow
I thought this article was going to be about irate soccermoms bashing it for the swearing and violence.
I didn't expect the complaints to be about the tobacco use.
Hmm...how about we just put all these kids in a building preventing them from the outside world, only allowing things soccer mom's approve of until they become adults so we don't have to listen to people bitch and moan about these stupid things like "CIGARETTE IN MOVIE, MOVIE WILL MAKE CHILDREN SMOKE".
I bet if you asked any smoker now why they started smoking, I am willing to bet it wasn't because they saw it in a cartoon as a kid.
"A lot of kids are going to start smoking because of this movie," said Stanton Glantz
Rango the movie that wants kids to smoke, more at 11. only on FOX
...the number of characters who light up are unacceptable.
you've got to provide proof of this sort of thing you stupid newsmedia idiot
"A lot of kids are going to start smoking because of this movie,"
So why did you start smoking?
Because a big headed lizard did it.
I watched Beavis and Butthead as a kid, I'm now majoring in philosophy.
101 Dalmations was the first movie I saw in theaters at the age of 8 or something, I have never smoked.
Its the same with this bullshit about "sexual puns" or "hidden sexuality" "subliminal" blah blah blah. There is nothing like that, as a kid, you just don't understand/notice it and skip it. Do these people have nothing better to do with their time?
(Rhetorical question, its obvious they don't and they need things like this for their ego).
"Somebody's poisoned the water hole!"
THAT is to adult for kids.
Well, even according to the article, the short answer is "no."
i watched the exorcist as a kid and now i go around vomiting on people and telling them their deceased mother perform fellatio in hell
As a smoker myself, when I see a person light up it makes me want to light up. But as a kid I was disgusted when I saw people smoke and never thought of starting myself.
I started smoking because I decided I didn't care what other people think.
i hope you get cancer so you learn your lesson.
If Rango the talking fictional lizard smokes, than so can i :D I'll be just like him
then contract lung cancer and die painfully, having every breathing moment feeling like knives stabbing into your lungs as you wither away
Better wrap your kids in bubblewrap.
Funny. Some people have used that exact anology.
I grew up in the '80s and '90s and back then you saw smoking on TV everywhere. I didn't ever pick up a smoke until some older kids convinced (nearly forced) me to. Thankfully I had it bashed into my skull about how bad smoking was and was so afraid of getting in trouble, I didn't do it again.
I'm pretty positive characters smoked in bugs bunny cartoons.
better question is "is Ringo too dumb for adults?"

You just wanted to be different by destroying your lungs then
cool
Title misled me.
I was thinking that the movie featured gore and lizard sex.
Gladly mistaken.

I think the real problem is not making humans want to start smoking, but animals starting to smoke! Kids will get their lizards and other animals smoking because of this movie!
Great movie :v:
But my god how can people be this stupid?
I'm pretty positive characters smoked in bugs bunny cartoons.
i miss bugs bunny cartoons :sigh:
I hate when soccer moms get all in a huff over everything.
Nobody noticed the inbreeding or lesbian jokes, but they noticed the smoking? Really?
Awesome fucking movie by the way.
Or the prostate exam or 'active social life' jokes.
Soccer moms need to stick to doing what they do best, transporting kids to and from soccer.
better question is "is Ringo too dumb for adults?"
No? Rango was fantastic.
Eh, it was pretty good for what it was: kid movie with obvious homages to old western films and a few adult situations/jokes in it. Not exactly Pixar quality but it was pretty damn close.
