My parents didn't use a safe for guns growing up. Teach them common sense and you'll be fine. Most states have laws that you have to have them at least trigger locked, or if they use it for something you're fucked. I don't think PA had that when I grew up there though.

Basically I have a little pin pad safe beside my bed that fits handguns and mags. I pulled the firing pins out of my rifles and stuck them in there, thus rendering the rifles useless.

Reminds me of the story with one of the marines who went into Osama bin Laden's safehouse.

It was something like three kids were robbing somebody for drugs but they meant to rob this guy's neighbor but instead they went into [I]his[/I] house. The marine cut the lights and broke all the robbers' legs, made a cup of coffee, then called the police.

This is still pretty bad ass though, good on her!
