3rd dude is buddhist so i'd go with him
u missed the point my man
Nice to see the media playing the "Let's ask him a bunch of really basic questions that we'd never ask the other candidates (especially Hillary) and watch him fail" game.
let me spell it out for you then
the person you name for your admiration is either white and well known or your answer will be met with confused looks from the general public
Well shit, at least he didn't have a brain fart and say Kim Jong Un.
fuck, merge

you are forgiven my child
Could he not have talked about a foreign leader from the past? I'm pretty sure it'd be easy to say you admire someone like say Sean Lemass, Charles Stewart Parnell or W. T. Cosgrave, consider their substatial achievements in Ireland.
I don't particularly admire any leader, foreign or domestic. They're just people.
Way to miss the point
Well if a lot of them are shitty I can understand why he wouldn't.
Is he stupid or just nervous?
In any case being unable to think under pressure is probably worse than ignorance if you're in a position of power.
Well if a lot of them are shitty I can understand why he wouldn't.
right, but him saying "i guess I'm having an aleppo moment" makes it sound like he doesn't actually know any foreign leaders, not that he doesn't admire any
i'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that gary johnson is going to be slammed with foreign policy basic questions, because they're cheap shots for the media, as he's a) libertarian and b) demonstrated that his knowledge of foreign affairs is questionable
The Detroit News has endorsed Johnson, the first time ever that they've not endorsed the Republican candidate
Jesus, what a terrible interviewer. Shouting at the top of his lungs, cutting off the person trying to answer the question. I'd stumble too, wow.

I do wonder how one trains to be a politician. You need to talk over people and maintain your thoughts while people try to interrupt. You need to look assertive at all times and avoid any gaffs. Seems like an impossible game of chess and huge amount of stress. You need to seem forever enthusiastic energetic and inspiring.
Maybe theres a business in offering training, they try to give a speech and answer questions while people try their hardest to break down their morale and talk over them.
It's all very well saying this is about Johnson not particularly admiring a foreign leader, but the fact that he called it an Aleppo moment really does indicate he couldn't think of one
NAME ANY FOREIGN LEADER
NAME A FOREIGN LEADER
ASIA? THE MIDDLE EAST? EUROPE?
american media is a circus
oh come on. if either hillary or trump had done something similar you'd be creating a thread about it before anyone knew it had been said. it's fuckin embarrassing, these are things a presidential candidate need to know. even if he doesn't admire any foreign leader it doesn't matter there needs to be an answer
Hillary, perhaps, because she's the secretary of state.
Trump? He'd just say Putin.
How do you answer a loaded question without risking your popularity?

King Abdullah is well liked in American foreign policy discussion. Republicans and Democrats alike admire him because of our mutual distaste for Islamic extremism. We like to point to moderate Muslim nations and their leaders as examples for the rest of the world. Not everybody in America hates Muslims

A libertarian would never say they admire a king.

You have to be relativistic.
He's pro reform and fairly liberal compared to his peers. If he tried to make it a democracy his family + the extremists he's worked hard to take power from would make him disappear.
ya there are reasons why hillary is actually better than johnson, i wasnt supprised his solution to global warming is nothing bwcause the sun will explode, i wasnt supprised he doesnt seem to know key elements of foreign policy, and im not at all supprised he cant name a singular foreign leader
he isnt nearly as qualified as people give him credit for. i really dont understand why they say millenials are going for him from bernie because he is a libertarian with a libertarian attitude and platform which is about as pro big business as you can get for an ideology

If you understood my zero tolerance for manipulation you'd figure it out eventually.
Why didn't he rephrase the question? Admire is a very strong word and I would agree that there are not many current leaders I could say I 'admire' - but rephrase it as 'think they are doing a good job' and you open yourself up to a lot more potential answers.
Clinton: Extreme warhawk in the Bush/Obama vein. She was one of the key players behind the ill-fated Libya intervention; laughed when Gaddafi died (psychopats do this, not normal people); called Iraq a "business opportunity"; stated that "we must destroy Syria for Israel"; recently implied a willingness to fight Russia (over email leaks proving her own corruption!); too intimately tied with Saudi-Arabia and Israel, and therefore sure to become involved in their silly medieval squabbles against other nations, possibly even undoing the progress made under Obama in regards to diplomatic ties with Iran.
Trump: Extreme warhawk, though his unwillingness to antagonize Russia might lessen the risk of a WWIII compared to Hillary. Dangerous and unpredictable nonetheless.
Johnson: Lack of knowledge on geography and the names of some folks. CLEARLY THE WORST CHOICE, RIGHT? RIGHT?!
I didn't laugh when Gaddafi died but I thought it was a fitting end when I saw the images.
Can you name dead ones? I'd probably say Mandela then.
Didn't he go around genociding white people
Didn't he go around genociding white people
Although the cult of Mandela does get annoying at times, no, he didn't.
