It's much less catholic in recent years, young people care less about religion and recent scandals with the church have driven so many away.
A few years ago the Taoiseach (prime minister) told the church that they'll have no power over Irish politics any more.

I was going to think that the country was becoming more progressive with possibly Pope Francis being the head of their church, I always assumed that to a degree that many of the Irish who still hold to their religion would still follow some of the Pope's guidance.
Fuck my life, I lost 20 euro bet (potential returns was 120), I bet on No, was worth a try.
Oh well, hopefully this causes some drastic changes in Ireland and things get better.
P.S - I am not homophobic or anything, it's just you know - business (which I am really bad at apparently)
Twas about time Ireland get on the same level.
