[img_thumb]http://cinemism.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/1982_blade_runner_the_final_cut_001.jpg[/img_thumb] blade runner anyone
Well maybe if that picture wouldn't be that huge.
Good job China, putting a giant skin cancer on the planet.
In case you hadn't noticed, humans need houses to live in for the most part. You know, cause it's more enjoyable than living in the wilderness pulling leeches off your cock every time you bathe in a river. [editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
Who will they crush in order to construct this city? I imagine the countless people living between these cities in smaller dwellings will not be pleased to have imminent domain claimed and their property seized. What of city transit? Or local government? How do they plan to mitigate the severe smog which will be produced by such a massive number of people living in such a small area? Do they have sufficient power plants which aren't powered by coal? Good god the list just goes on and on. This is what a BAD GOVERNMENT does when it gets rich. This is, in all likelihood, evil, shortsighted, and ignorant beyond all measure. [editline]24th January 2011[/editline] Look at how many buildings aren't there anymore. Somehow I doubt that they all just gave up their buildings.
China are on track to be powered by totally renewable resources by 2020 if I remember correctly and they use a lot of Scottish technology to do it, and we entered a deal with them recently to further those goals. Also all chinese whisky must now be brewed in Scotland :v:
Holy fuck that's big.
:smug:
That is so fucking awesome!!!
Imagine the traffic...
Minecraft IRL, come on China lets dig a huge hole to the nether realm!
It's going to be hard to keep organised crime under control.
Nah, surprisingly, the crime levels are amazingly low compared to the amount of population. And God almighty help the criminals across the country if crime levels go one single occasion too much, because that's when the China's Police Forces fucking mobilizes and brings everything they got. Chinese Policemen are awesome
Imagine the traffic...
Don't make me.
This reminds me of those insane cities people build in Sim City.
Sucks to go to work tough, a traffic light every minute...
Nah, surprisingly, the crime levels are amazingly low compared to the amount of population.
One of the few benefits of having a totalitarian state. Back in the 1920es, Mussolini practically eradicated the Italian and Sicilian mafia.
This will only become really true if a fuckton of developers get in on this.
In the middle of it will be nuclear missle centers. WE ARE FUCKED!!!!
Can't wait to see progress on this from satelite images. No you wont even need any satelite images, this will be clearly visible from orbit.
Holy Terra shall rise?
They should just call it Megalopolis.
How about Asialopolis
Just what we need. Chinese industrialism on a huge scale. Not to mention the population. We literally cannot support any more people on this planet.
Actually we can, but the planet cannot support us anymore
Forty two million in a single city? That's going to be a true bureaucratic hell.
Actually we can, but the planet cannot support us anymore
The planet can support us fine, we just need to get into better practices when it comes to agriculture and other provisions.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the walled city of Kowloon. It was a gigantic urban sprawl in Hong Hong with apartment buildings layered on top of each other, millions lived there and the buildings were packed together in such a density that it was a rarity to spot sunlight from the lower levels. At there was 30.000 people at one time.
Whoa, China's really trying to solve their overcrowding problems. Guess that means THEY get to build Mega City One. (if you don't get the reference, I Dreddfully pity you) But in all seriousness, they should call it Pearl Delta, or Pearl City.
They should recreate city 17 and take over the world.
News at 11: America to build largest megacity in the world with 43 million people.
Misread as 42 million cities. I was understandably concerned.
I wonder if there are even 42 Million cities in the world...
I wonder if there are even 42 Million cities in the world...
Every city in the world would have to have only 166 people in it.

I highly doubt that is safe.
This is the first city. How long until City 17?
i'm sure this is gonna turn out great, just like every other megacity southeast asia has planned
