This will fail just like the world largest and most complex shopping mall that was built in china, where no one visited it and there was only about... 5 stores or so.
Imagine the score you could get on DEFCON if you managed to land a nuke on it.
Chinese megacity nuked! 35.7 million dead!
GODD DAMMNNN. you know this shit is FUCKIN REDIKULUS
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/ff/Metropolisanime_poster.jpg[/img_thumb] It has been foretold, and so it shall become.
hey guys let's take a comic made by the creator of astro boy that's a relatively light hearted stab at social classes and big city politics and turn it into a violent mindfuck offshoot of Akira fuck that movie
My Dad lives in Dong Guan which is an immense city as it is, I have been to the outlying cities and they are all huge too, it is going to be insane.. only China could do this.

I wonder how insignificant Wales feel. [editline]2nd February 2011[/editline] They'll probably do what London are doing with getting around, bike stations everywhere, more public transport routes, etc.
China as a whole needs winner ratings.
China as a whole needs winner ratings.
Yeah, their oppression of the population sure is great!
Yeah, their oppression of the population sure is great!
Shit gets done when no one is allowed to disrespect the leader!
Cities that size are bound to happen eventually. The metropolis areas of the northeastern US will merge together at some point. Weird to think there wouldn't be a Hong Kong anymore though.
Shit gets done when no one is allowed to disrespect the leader!
All for the wrong reasons

I think of Coruscant. While this would totally be cool as shit, I don't want a city planet. I like the forest and wilderness.
The provincial committee said it was a lie. http://english.cntv.cn/20110130/103387.shtml
Watch it look something like this Watch the first bit and skip to five minutes in if you're pressed for time.
Yeah, their oppression of the population sure is great!
Just curious, how would you control over a billion people?
Great, a new breeding ground for SARS and flu strains.
Just curious, how would you control over a billion people?
Why the fuck would you want to. Split that shit up into individual countries, there's no way to efficiently manage something that big.
All for the wrong reasons
That wasn't a serious point...eitherway I'm impressed by the plans not the lack of freedom.
And thus, the first hive was born ...
Its just going to turn into a giant dystopia of cheap plastic toy factories.
That's a really stupid idea.
Don't forget about Tokyo, that city already have like 34 million citizens
And yet they have dozens of ghost cities across the country.
Whoa, China's really trying to solve their overcrowding problems. Guess that means THEY get to build Mega City One. (if you don't get the reference, I Dreddfully pity you) But in all seriousness, they should call it Pearl Delta, or Pearl City.
Judge Dredd is shit.
Don't make me.
You missed the 60 mile long traffic jam in beijing a few months ago. Ironically, they already added 2 more lanes to the highway.
Just what we need. Chinese industrialism on a huge scale. Not to mention the population. We literally cannot support any more people on this planet.
The entire population of earth can fit inside Los Angeles shoulder-to-shoulder. If anything, it's "underdeveloped" when counting all of the people in poverty. The only issue is that companies are refusing to use cleaner energy because then it would negatively effect other industries such as mining.
Yeah, their oppression of the population sure is great!
They actually barely oppress the population. From a political and lawful standpoint, they have more freedoms than most western nations. You get no politicians whining about religion or gays flocking around, and most of the time the police don't mind what you do unless it's extremely illegal (unlike the US where brutality and racial discrimination is normal police procedure) There isn't even a worry about finding a job there that will hire you, there's dozens of places per street corner that hire there, It's just finding a job that gives good benefits and pay, which is almost going straight up right now. In less than 20 years from now, roughly 80% of China will be out of poverty, dwelling in western standards of living. The real estate bubble there wont pop under their current government, and there's no chance of seeing it change anytime soon I recommend everyone to watch this documentary about these issues regarding Chinas growth:

My city is ready.
Has nobody here seen or read up on one world government or zeitgesit? This is just the beginning stages of it. Soon every country in the world will be building these 'mega cities'..
