People who go to concerts just so they can mosh or create walls of death are in a lot of cases, idiots. Just go and enjoy the music. Also, why would you take a knife to a concert?
Tough guy complex.
I hear moshpits are actually rather friendly. Guy once got knocked onto the floor and a load of people helped him back up.
They kinda are. I've only been in hardcore/punk mosh pits, but there is kinda a code of ethics to it. Help people up if they fall immediately, not wearing spikes 'n shit, respecting the venue, and in general not being an asshole. Its dancing and showing positive feedback. The worst injury I've received in a pit at hardcore show is a pulled leg from a dude twice my size falling on me when trying to pick me up and a couple fists to the face.
Metalheads are cool but some bands (Slayer) have a large following of neo-nazi scum. I've never seen anyone get seriously hurt on purpose, just crowd surfing gone wrong and other accidents
Really? Slayer have nazi fans? Tom Araya (singer/bassist) wife is jewish iirc and Kerry King played a guitar solo on a beastie boys video (jews).
Don't stab people because you didn't want to be in a mosh pit, just leave the pit!
MetalSucks co-founder/co-editor-in-chief Axl Rosenberg firmly believes that it's always 4:20 somewhere. He is sincerely sorry for all the typos.
A+
Really? Slayer have nazi fans? Tom Araya (singer/bassist) wife is jewish iirc and Kerry King played a guitar solo on a beastie boys video (jews).
Then again, neo nazis aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.
Metalheads are cool but some bands (Slayer) have a large following of neo-nazi scum. I've never seen anyone get seriously hurt on purpose, just crowd surfing gone wrong and other accidents
I'd say black metal bands have more neo-Nazi fans than Slayer.
I'd say black metal bands have more neo-Nazi fans than Slayer.
Yeah Slayer is pop compared to black metal. Some of those black metal bands have some weird ass fans.
Fuck yeah cattle decapitation, too bad this had to happen.
What's wrong with the crowd? Not bashing metal heads at all, but those guys had no sympathy at all "fuck that guy that got stabbed", wtf
People who go to concerts just so they can mosh or create walls of death are in a lot of cases, idiots. Just go and enjoy the music.
Moshing is much more interesting than just standing around, plus you get a nice work out.
This is shitty. Any mosh pit that I have ever been in everyone backs up and helps up anybody that falls down. Then the ass kicking resumes.
Moshing is much more interesting than just standing around, plus you get a nice work out.
because enjoying the show is just standing around
well what the hell was he expecting to get in a mosh pit, hugs?
My wife just said exactly that... exactly, word for word. Are you my wife?
because enjoying the show is just standing around
You can enjoy the show more moshing, depending on the genre of music. Moshing is technically a form of dance.
I remember being at a free gig by Rage Against The Machine and was being pushed about cause I was quite close to a mosh pit. My wallet fell out because my short pockets were pretty loose and I ducked down to find it (it was dark and such). Moment I went down I was being yanked back up by around 4 people. Told them that it lost my wallet and ducked back down (saw it being kicked about by people shuffling and what not). I thought it was honestly hopeless as it was so dark, but then suddenly the ground lit up with about 6 spot lights dancing around as if they were looking for an escaped convict. I peaked up and saw the people that helped me up had their phones out and kiting up the floor for me to look, a few others joined in as well. Managed to grab my wallet and thanked those legends.
I hear moshpits are actually rather friendly. Guy once got knocked onto the floor and a load of people helped him back up.
That's how good moshes work. Sometimes there are asshats who don't know proper mosh etiquette though. On a joking note, Dethklok would be proud.
Moshing is much more interesting than just standing around, plus you get a nice work out.
Pardon me but I don't see how rubbing myself over a bunch of other sweaty people is more interesting then just taking in the music.
It's when you get into a group of them. At least in my experience, every one of them was a flunky drama starter. In NJ though they are all hardcore-style hipsters that don't know how to mosh. Like look at this shit: http://lifetoliverecords.tumblr.com/post/106367303396/code-orange-fya-fest-2014
it's always been my dream to go to one of those pits and just flail my arms and do cart wheels. looks like fun to me [editline]9th January 2015[/editline] and bicycle kicks or roundhouses
I was knocked flat one time in a mosh pit and the biggest buffest shirtless guy there pretty much carried me out out of the pit. Like a giant bodybuilding jesus.
Reminds me of the Sepultura show where a guy was found with an axe in the head
I have been to dozens of smaller metal concerts (like this one, Cattle Decapitation is fucking awesome), and I'm often in the mosh pit. People are always friendly and it is rare that somebody gets hurt, but it can happen. If someone actually is, they are helped out of there immediately. The only place where I have seen people that did not get that it wasn't about hurting other people, was at a large Metallica concert in Denmark where they have a large following. There was a huge guy, clearly on hard drugs and some older (30+) guys that were drunk off their asses. There were also three morons wearing Adidas tracksuits pushing and shoving bystanders, including a dad with his 14 year old daughter. You could clearly tell that none of them were metal fans, or even there to see Metallica. When James Hetfield came up to the center forward stage to play a guitar solo, they were just standing with their backs turned to the stage trying to start a fight with anybody in range. The crowd security warned them three times, but never did anything about it. That is why I don't go to so large concerts anymore, because they attract all sorts of morons not even there for the music.
Pardon me but I don't see how rubbing myself over a bunch of other sweaty people is more interesting then just taking in the music.
Mosh with your penis out, it makes the night interesting and fun. It's like a game of hot potato, except with syphilis!
So wait does that mean the "cholo" was the guy who was stabbed? Going by the reaction of people who said "fuck that guy" who was stabbed
Seems like it according to the article I posted. Not exactly sure. Most that goes to Metallica are likely fans of "Black album" songs rather than metal fans so they generally don't follow the proper pit "etiquette" when it comes to mosh pit or whatever. The one that I went to, the mosh pit was more like a "push pit". Preferred small concerts myself from then onwards.
Pardon me but I don't see how rubbing myself over a bunch of other sweaty people is more interesting then just taking in the music.
Because it's a metal concert most of them are going to be dudes too.
Reminds me of that Rolling Stones concert where the guy got stabbed in the neck, or head or something.
