Guy's a cunt, just stop entertaining him.
At this point I'm entertained by the sheer inanity of it. Its clear he lacks the maturity or exposure to understand how wrong he is.
And this is the point where you know you can't defend your point.
For your argument to work you need to prove that all poverty is due to frivolous spending or stupidity. So you have to prove that everyone in poverty is either wearing metaphorical "300$ shoes" or that they're stupid. Meanwhile all I have to provide is one example to disprove your argument.
Remember when free lunch made you not be poor?
How does it still stand. You can't just say "My argument is right" you have to actually do something called supporting your argument.
The way you phrased it made it sound like you where a hipster lmao, I ain't triggered I'm laughing
You have to prove your claim that its entirely their fault. You made the claim. You have to prove that these people have access to the same opportunities for success that you had.
Did you really just fucking say that people in poverty and who are homeless deserve whats coming to them? Are you sick in the head?
You cannot simultaneously have the position that people are in poverty because they are stupid and then in the next sentence state the literal opposite.

Please tell me what fallacy I used. When you can't find one then come back and answer the question.

He explicitly used the word applaud in his statement.
A free lunch means the household income is poverty level bro.
I'm not looking up a source because I don't take this as seriously as you do evidently. I'm giving my opinion on the whole thing and from what I am seeing with my own two eyes.
Read what I'm saying: people that by buying stupid shit they don't need when they could be saving it and then end up poor and homeless, are in fact, stupid, and yes, deserve what is coming to them.
They're two different things. You keep coming back to this as you have nothing else to say bro.
A murderer who escapes prison is not the same thing as Donald Trump not having to pay taxes. They're completely different things. He committed a murder, Trump had filed for bankruptcy and didn't have to pay federal income taxes for 20 years because of it. Your skull is thick. But sure, we can call it applauding if that's what you want.
My life will be fine. I don't need pity or sympathy, but I, and many other people like me in similar financial situations need understanding.
But that's a little difficult if you refuse to see that people have connections, obligations, and attachments to family, friends, and other responsibilities. Not everyone wants to live their lives by looking out for number one. They want an enriched experience with other people with friends with family with beloved pets while also wanting to be able to care for themselves at the same time.
If you can't understand that then it'll be very difficult to appeal to literally anyone in this thread who sees things differently.

I'm aware of that. I just fail to see what the hell that has to do with anything/

so your entire argument is literally "Feels before reals". lmao

But you stated that all poverty was a result of this. Thats what I'm refuting.

imagine not knowing have to properly interpret an analogy.
Let me put it in even more simplistic terms to match your own apparent reading comprehension
What trump did was a loophole that allowed him to not pay taxes. A loophole is a method for getting around the law without breaking it.
What our hypothetical murderer would be doing is using a loophole to allow him to not go to jail. In case you forgot, a loophole is a method for getting around the law without technically breaking it.
If you support trump then you support legal loopholes. And because the murderer would be using a legal loophole to not go to prison (the place where bad people are sent) you are supporting his abuse of the system as well.
Do I really have to explain this to you like you're 5 years old or something?
I wouldn't bother with Derek, he has to grow up and gain perspective on his own, we can't force it on him. It is his choice to live in ignorance, and only his choice will bring him out of it.
People like him are the reason that I'm going to force my kids to volunteer in the community. I don't want my kids to grow up as coddled and ignorant as him.
I always found it really annoying how in america, if you support the Republican party, you are a Republican. Where if you support the Tories in the UK, you're a Tory supporter. that small difference makes everything feel so much more tribal.
Wish I wasn't late to this thread, read through all that gmod bootstrap crap just to point out that nah, it's just as divided over in the UK, if not more so because we literally have centuries of history where affluent southerners have ruled the whole country because classism. It's pretty much been that way forever.
Then in the 80's, when the U.S. had Reagan, we had Thatcher, and the wealth inequality and class divide has been severe since then.
What I'm trying to say is that, if you support the Conservatives, you're a Tory. You're also probably scum (or just misguided, but this thread feels like evidence for the former).
