Makes me wonder how he would feel it if it fails. Would he feel it as a shortness of breath?
he'd feel ???? cause his heart stopped pumping blood
a heart attack would cause shortness of breath, the heart doesn't stop but instead pumps erratically
cardiac arrest involves impaired pumping of blood
his replacement heart suddenly stopping would be the similar. oxygenated blood would cease to flow to the brain. he'd fall unconcious and stop breathing and die within seconds/minutes
He'd "die" in minutes, although if conditions are favorable he could be recovered within 10-15. If he fell in a frozen lake, he could in theory be recovered much later, but other conditions also factor in.

So your life is completely dependent on supplying power to this thing for every second of every day? God damn.
Mama mia!
Doesn't this thing continually pump blood instead of in beats so he pretty much has no pulse? Or am I getting mixed up with another artificial heart?
worse thing that would ever happen to the planet
I don't think I would be, by the time we achieve the fountain of youth i think we would all be a lot smarter due to genetic and cybernetic modification and automated labour but also make rules like if you want to give birth to any more than one 2 children you must be taken off the fountain of youth. Cruel but neccessary
