He got as much as he deserved I guess
Its sad to see such attention given to someone who made little to no direct contributions to computing as we know it. While I hate disrespecting a dead person like this I do wonder where is the statue for Dennis Ritchie who died only a few days before Steve Jobs and only got reported on twice; without this man we might very well be without one of the most fundamental programming languages which is used so heavily in software development.
I know Dennis Ritchie had a Fredora and FreeBSD release dedicated to his honour its just so fucking sad and depressing that he has not had more attention than Steve Jobs.
Bell labs as a whole doesn't get much recognition from the public, but I guess the difference is that Steve Jobs was a businessman who sold himself as a brilliant innovator, whereas the people at Bell Labs are simply scientists nearly invisible to the public eye.
Out of 10,000 entries and they pick this one...
iPez dispenser :v:
I will never see it as anything else now.
Instead of candy, it dispenses Iphones.
It seems kind of... Dildo-esque.
Well, Steve Jobs was known to be an asshole, so even as a dildo it's not functional.
looks like they just took a bust of him and welded it to a pillar of steel, then realised that wasn't enough
seriously go make an actual classy statue

Rip Steve "Smitty" Werbenjagermanjensen
I honestly thought it read 'love' clockwise from the bottom right of the statue.
Only now do I realise that the 'l' is in fact a '1'.
why is the 1 out on the side it just makes the shadow look like it has an erection

This is a melting phone with a foot coming out.
It clearly represents iPhone innovation as being kicked in the head.
what the fuck is this shit
couldn't they make a normal statue
that would've been cool

When I die and if they make a statue of me, I would like it to be my head in a cool body, let's say Sundowners body for example, thanks. Or Armstrong, without his shirt (naturally).
wasnt steve jobs basically the ideas guy?
Well it isn't as bad as it could have been. They could have made a normal one that depicts him with his regular choice of clothing :v:
Bill Gates will easily top this when he dies.
Man, that looks like something that'd be used in an ancient ritual
that reminds me, does anyone remember this old photoshop from like, 2005? :v:

The sculptor was given this reference to work with:

Steve Jobs actually did have input on some of Apple's best looking devices, namely the first iteration of the Iphone and the 4, which were actually great leaps forward in terms of aesthetics. The Iphones after those were just rehashes after he wasn't even working with them on it anymore. I have no idea why people in this thread are shitting all over what is a really amazing legacy he left, as he helped shaped what PC's are today.
But god damned that is one ugly-ass statue, Jobs would be turning in his grave.

When I die I want a bust of me on a giant robot.
Such as that giant Gundam in Japan.
If I ever have a statue of me made I don't want it to just be a statue of me. I want it to be a statue of me PLUS the people in my life that were important to me.
Best statue of me that I could imagine would have someone on my immediate right or left giving me a noogie while we all laugh. Fuck being alone in a statue; the people in my life made me who I am.
wasnt steve jobs basically the ideas guy?
guys what about a tombstone that reads and plays mp3s and can inform your loved ones when your tomb is being robbed!
it also requires a 50 year sub of apple care
This statue is the ultimate irony really, A man who was successful by making products that look good pleasing will be remembered by this aesthetic monstrosity.
