They didn't start it, but they sure as hell fuel it. Again, this is just stupid. Doing bad things is okay if you're told to? What kind of nonsense is that? Tell you what, if you can name one thing the soldiers are doing that'll help the US, then maybe you can get some respect from me.
While I would agree that the actual wars that the US military is currently engaged in do next to nothing to help us or protect us, the very existence and presence of our military is enough to deter more serious potential threats to us and our allies.

Instead of massive overbloated defence budget and going to war with absolutely everyone or no military at all, why not find some middle ground? [editline]22nd December 2011[/editline]
Forgetting the ignorance of Governor Goblin's anti-American arguments,.
Nice ad hom, boyo. And what is with this sentiment, that it's okay to criticise the government, but once you say anything REMOTELY bad about the troops, you're labelled a fucking anti-American. Good job D-Roy, I'm sure your mother would be proud.
Every soldier I know is either in it for the free college or they think it's "cool" so I'm pretty sure the whole patriot thing is irrelevant anyway.
It's bad enough they're sent to some god-forsaken shit-hole to die because a bunch of old men in fancy clothes can't get along with each other.
What would she thank it for? The PATRIOT act?
Fuck you, shes basically funding in the death of people like my dad and people that have been some of the best of friends to me. This is considered treason under the constitution so I hope she gets it bad.

Or do they just don't matter? I don't like the idea of giving rise to one human over another simply because they kill people with fancier toys. okay, again, it's not even certain she did do it. WashingtonPost is not a legal court, it's a sensationalist news group.
As a newly forged US Army Soldier, I find this to be particularly reprehensible. I give my time, effort, and my service to help the citizens of the US hold on to their way of life, and this is the kind of thanks I get from this woman? I hope she rots in jail for trying to kill my battle buddies.

Nice dumb rating Governor Goblin. Know this, however. One of the creeds that we live by is the Soldier's Creed. In it is the promise that we are guardians of freedom, and the American way of life. Another is that we serve the people of the United States. People like you. I may not like what YOU in particular say, but I will defend to the death the right to say it. So continue slinging mud. I do not care. It just means that I am doing my job right.
Eh... it's fine to criticise the government if they aren't working for you -- but our boys are fighting for us, for what America stands for, whether the government is or not.
They fight against who the government wants them to fight for or against. What part of this do you not understand? Believe it or not, but the military IS government. The citizens of the US did not vote to go into Iraq or Afghanistan. Theoretically, yeah, they're supposed to guard a country. But they haven't been doing that, now have they?

Her home country is turkey. That means that she CAME to the US. And Built a life with the support of american tax payers. If there is anything she is ungrateful about, it is the nation that welcomed her in, gave her an education and provided the opportunities. Opportunities that she otherwise wouldn't have gotten in her home country.

With that said, it takes two to tango; you might consider reviewing sometime all the massacres carried out by the Taliban in Afghanistan since they first formed that destroyed god only knows how many families. Probably worth noting their lack of empathy, as well.

Here, I have a good question, who is threatening the rights you claim you're protecting? I can answer that and point to the government you serve, but I want you to answer that.

My friend could take a bullet for you just as you continue to badmouth him and call him a murderer. There are ALWAYS atrocities in war. And I don't think you fucking understand how this military works at all. For the first time in history, the US Military is one of the best military powers in the world. With the advancement of technology we can further keep an eye on our troops so we don't have entire squads or whatever going into a village and raping. There is always that news article however that depicts JUST that but it doesn't mean the people are bad, war changes you. Go to a PTSD clinic and see for yourself. Those men are the unlucky few who just couldn't handle it. While I don't think people who commit crimes in war shouldn't be punished, it doesn't mean that they went in there looking to kill an innocent person or go crazy and do something horrible.

So.... no-one here thinks there's even a chance these accusations are false? I.e. that she could really have been helping a family friend and nothing more?
So when was the last time the Military voted on a congressional bill eh?
Directly? None, but by that logic, anyone who doesn't vote on it is just a side effect. Indirectly? A fuck load. [editline]22nd December 2011[/editline]
So.... no-one here thinks there's even a chance these accusations are false? The American public didn't CRY for war when the towers were hit? Yeah sure, you are probably too young to even remember whether it was a clear day or a rainy day wherever you were on the 11th. You don't even know how crazy everybody went. Even the most liberal of politicians cried for revenge.

But where is it? I've asked, fairly so, many times in this thread alone who threatens the US, none of you have answered.
Please, I'm not a natural born American. Could you get any more gaudy? Christ, you're like a recruiter. By the way, we are not always about killing people. Try telling that to the engineers I know that built schools and hospitals in Iraq. Tell that to the medics who give free aid to the indigenous population.
There has NEVER been an intentional killing before? What point is there to go who is worse or better, look at the big fucking picture. Please, Mr. Illiterate, refer to this post:
Wow, you know what he fucking meant. Of course there have been intentional killings. Just by the fact you even suggested he mean't there hasn't been any tells me you either A, haven't even taken US History yet. B, Have taken it but for some reason you are stupid. You just look for holes in ANYBODIES responses in order to fuel your "I'm-never-wrong" ego.
Wow this discussion is moving quickly.
Oh really? The American public didn't CRY for war when the towers were hit?
You don't even know how crazy everybody went. Even the most liberal of politicians cried for revenge.
They got it, what are they still doing in Afghanistan? [editline]22nd December 2011[/editline] And can you stop being so fucking melodramatic?
There seems to be this everpresent, ever powerful enemy the US military seems to always tirelessly fight against that aims to take away my freedoms. But where is it? There will always be corrupt people in the world and that is what America fights against since the founding of our country. We have been to countless places, Libya, Philippines, ect to help protect people so they don't have to suffer against tyranny.

OH WAIT, he does the exact opposite. "It is an unfortunate side effect of war, but it is not intentional." Go fucking figure.
And can you stop being so fucking melodramatic?
When the towers were hit, the states could have literally been awarded a Grammy for melodrama.

You're telling me to fucking worship the ground you walk on for a metaphorical enemy? And THOSE people, I'm talking about the country the Us military comes from, not this world police attitude.
