Worst thread 2011. Stupidity is rampant on both sides of the board.
Nothing said in this thread is as dumb as the people who post things like that or bitch about the thread in general. Post something relevant or don't post at all.
xenopoof
Hahahah what the hell is going on in this thread?
absolutely what should happen, including the police and national guard; once the machinery of the state's been dismantled the proletariat can instill a true democracy and we can forget this whole capitalist funfare
Hahahah what the fuck.
I'm not making sense, but your metaphorical enemy is perfectly reasonable?
YES! Finally he understands something.
anyway, since I'm not a US citizen and I really don't give two shits about what the American government does, I'd say 2000 dollars USD isn't really that much - and as other people have said before, they're not going to invade America at any given time.
The money's not being used to potentially invade the US, it's to kill US personnel in Afghanistan, you'd also be really surprised at how much $2k USD can buy you, especially in the poorer regions of the world. I don't even see how this thread managed to devolve into opinion flinging, from the looks of it she committed a fairly serious federal law (as I imagine financially supporting the death of soldiers is somewhere in the law books) and was caught. [editline]22nd December 2011[/editline]
Hahahah what the hell is going on in this thread?
Woman commits crime that can be interpreted differently by people, argument over the US's foreign policy bubbles over as a random anarchist comes in and explains how it's all "The Man's" fault. I'm just as confused as everyone else.
as a random anarchist comes in and explains how it's all "The Man's" fault.
I know you're not referring to me.
Woman commits crime that can be interpreted differently by people, argument over the US's foreign policy bubbles over as a random anarchist comes in and explains how it's all "The Man's" fault. I'm just as confused as everyone else.
what anarchist? let's not use the phrase "the man" with the connotations of naive conspiracy it carries, i've already iterated this plenty in my explanation of it being the "fault"
as someone already said, Governor Goblin is mostly right. he should just work a little on his attitude and blunt extremism.
I'm not trying to sound like I'm about to go bomb a barracks. I just find the current status quo surrounding the concept of military to be kinda silly.

Goblin, after reading you posts here, I just straight up wanna punch you in your face. The way you speak of America's armed forces, a force made up of REAL PEOPLE, not just faceless mooks just disgusts me. Yes, our country is not perfect, but goddamnit it's not horrible. Show some fucking respect.
What kind of fascist world do you live in where you attack the people you disagree with and demand they follow your line of thinking?
Two things. One, I said I want to. Not that I neccesarily would. And two, where the hell did you get fascism from? Cause I stated I want to hit you for showing no respect for people who lay their lives on the line for America? Also where the hell did I state I want to lead a country, or hold political office? I personally am just greatly incensed by your opinion. Not cause it's different from mine, but because you act like our army is a tool of corporate America, and do no good for the world. As I said before, show some respect.

Or better yet, besides dying for a the likeness of a country provide me with a reason to respect them. I'm not saying I hate them or welcome their deaths, I'm just arguing being indifferent is an okay attitude.

I'm not saying I hate them or welcome their deaths, I'm just arguing being indifferent is an okay attitude.
You act like we don't do jack shit there. We've fucking built schools and helped people rebuild towns in that region. Sure there's going to be collateral damage, as someone said before, it happens, but you can't deny we haven't done some good for them, what with the TOTALITARIAN Taliban being beaten back in Afghanistan. Also, why are you addressing me? I'm not in the military. As far as I'm concerned, you're also an American so I guys you'll be paying our "debt" with me then?
You still destablised the region and killed a fuckload of people. At what point do you stop chalking it up to Collateral damage? At what point does it go "we're really fucking up". Building a few schools and repairing the hospital you blew up doesn't make everything better. What if the fucking nazis made a deal saying "oh we'll build a school or two in Poland, all good right gais?" [editline]22nd December 2011[/editline] There is a LOT more damaged, for example in Iraq, that the minimal building the US is doing will answer for.
go back to playing skyrim wearing your dragon helmet and bring your ad hominems with you, you big poofter
lol, obvious troll is obvious.
Nothing said in this thread is as dumb as the people who post things like that or bitch about the thread in general. Post something relevant or don't post at all.
Fine, I'll start with why I posted in the first place, then make an actual contribution: First, neither side of this argument could hold up a good argument (pretty much both sides were content with ignoring any new arguments in favor of reinforcing their original point like it was their only one). The troll shouting BS from the sidelines didn't help either. You want my opinion on this matter? Find some fucking proof she was aiding bad guys before declaring her a traitor, and if you really think that she's a traitor already before any proof could arise you can go fuck yourself. And if you want to know why we need a military, it's because even if we don't have a real enemy now, even if we don't have a just cause to fight for now, there will ALWAYS be the possibility that tomorrow one might actually arise. That is why ALMOST EVERY FUCKING COUNTRY IN THE FUCKING WORLD has a military, and there are very few countries in the history of the world that have ever gotten away with not having their own military without being invaded or having some other country's military offer to protect them in their stead.
What would she thank it for? The PATRIOT act?
This has nothing to do with the Patriot act. She was attempting to get US soldiers hurt, which is completely disgusting regardless of what you think of the policies of the United States government.
The interventions and aid to shit regimes in the Middle East have done far more to foster terrorism than anything Al-Qaeda could have done [editline]23rd December 2011[/editline]
This has nothing to do with the Patriot act. She was attempting to get US soldiers hurt, which is completely disgusting regardless of what you think of the policies of the United States government.
How is that 'completely disgusting'? Seems like your usual asymmetric warfare
go back to playing skyrim wearing your dragon helmet and bring your ad hominems with you, you big poofter
Go go, comrade Karlos! You can show them the right way! Let's rally up and have a good old anarcho-communist party!
How is that 'completely disgusting'? Seems like your usual asymmetric warfare
So contributing to the murder of US soldiers is completely acceptable in your mind?
So contributing to the murder of US soldiers is completely acceptable in your mind?
It's killing, and if you're on the other side, yeah. That's kind of the whole point of war. Killing each other. Obviously it gets murky when you're fighting an asymmetrical war, but then again that's why she's facing a lengthy prison sentence. [editline]23rd December 2011[/editline] With every tax dollar you're contributing to the death of those on the other side, yet that is normally seen as morally acceptable. The difference is that Pakistani terrorists aren't launching drone strikes on America.
You still destablised the region and killed a fuckload of people. At what point do you stop chalking it up to Collateral damage? [editline]22nd December 2011[/editline] There is a LOT more damaged, for example in Iraq, that the minimal building the US is doing will answer for.
Again with this "you" stuff. Listen buddy, again, I'm assuming you're an American as well so stop holding yourself to such a high standard. I didn't do jack shit, so you're also calling yourself a murderer at this point. "A fuckload of people". hmm, well it's not atleast half of those people were terrorists, extremists, or otherwise. I'll admit we've killed civilians. Yes, we've fucked up. But again, that's happened in every war. Besides, don't you think any soldier who accidentally killed a civilian feels like shit? US Soldiers aren't all reincarnations of Hitler. They're people. Hell if I was in the military and accidentally fucked up someone's house, or killed some innocent civilian, I'd probably loose it. But then again you're heads too far up your ass to realize that soldiers are people who make mistakes and feel the burden of them. And also, how can you compare the US to NAZIS? Nazi SS (not even the regular Whermact generally speaking) were horrible, antisemitic bastards who deserve to rot in hell. Meanwhile the US army is one that fucks up, but we don't fucking kill innocent people for no goddamn reason. And we sure as fuck don't just go and butcher whole towns in this day and age. So yes, our reparations probably ever make up for the damage made/ fuck-ups done, but it's not like we did it intentionally.
To be fair, most of the civilian death resulted from sectarian violence. Then you've got the moral question of which is preferable: A dictator killing a few hundred people every year Or the possibility of democracy and freedom (though it's not nearly there yet) and a couple hundred thousand deaths Though it gets much more complicated in real life, when you were one of quite a few states that allowed that dictator to get powerful, then armed him so he'd fight the Iranians.
oh god my sides
Did you know most of them were "moslems"!
They didn't start it, but they sure as hell fuel it. Again, this is just stupid. Doing bad things is okay if you're told to? What kind of nonsense is that? Tell you what, if you can name one thing the soldiers are doing that'll help the US, then maybe you can get some respect from me.
As if anyone wants respect from an arrogant prick who believes he knows exactly how the world works.
You still destablised the region and killed a fuckload of people. At what point do you stop chalking it up to Collateral damage?
Though it gets much more complicated in real life, when you were one of quite a few states that allowed that dictator to get powerful, then armed him so he'd fight the Iranians.
Like I said earlier, US isn't perfect by a long-shot.
oh god my sides
Ok so maybe I was wrong when I threw out a random figure, but I still fail to believe US soldiers are a bunch of butchering murderers.
