i wonder how /pol/ and other people like that react to this also for a while i was under the optimistic assumption that maybe trump wouldnt be so bad i was wrong
"losing all of our freedoms is extremely based, actually"

https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1564481 It's voted on. We lose.
Remember when Google and Facebook backed stopping SOPA and PIPA? Wonder what changed...
https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1564481 It's voted on. We lose.
no we didn't. keep fighting this shit you've got more power than you think.
Remember when Google and Facebook backed stopping SOPA and PIPA? Wonder what changed...
Because SOPA would hurt them and comparatively they have little to lose and perhaps some to gain from this. Companies look out for themselves, sadly. It's just that their interests occasionally align with our own. [editline]18th May 2017[/editline] To be clear, losing net neutrality helps large, established companies and hurts up-and-coming competitors. So in essence, this is a move which completely shits on small business and upstarts. We're going to see a brain drain as Silicon Valley loses its luster and goes dark, presuming a new administration doesn't put these rules back into effect within the next few years. We might see a rise in technology professionals moving out of the United States in order to pursue greener pastures in other countries with internet laws and infrastructure which better support a competitive internet marketplace, and if allowed to continue to its inevitable conclusion the American internet will become owned by a few massive corporations which are able to pay the 'operational fees' to bribe the telecoms into giving them the perks which allow them to overwhelm their competitors. The internet will still exist, but you can kiss the status of the United States as a key internet technology innovator goodbye. Also remember whose administration put this corrupt piece of shit into place, please. If you voted for Trump and didn't think that he'd would put someone like Pai into control of this, you need to seriously re-evaluate your ability to judge character. Regardless, we'll see how things go and hopefully the damage can be mitigated before it gets too bad.
So how irreversible is this if it DOES go through? Coukd the next FCC chair go "lol no" and rescind the rescindtion?
So how irreversible is this if it DOES go through? Coukd the next FCC chair go "lol no" and rescind the rescindtion?
They'd need to bring it to a vote. But if I recall correctly one of Pai's goals is to explicitly pass restrictions on what the FCC can do in the future. And overriding their rescinded net neutrality laws is one of those things.
I have a feeling that they might have shot themselves in the foot. The second the general populace needs to pay five dollars extra per minute on Pornhub, the country is going to implode and flip shit because it's actually affecting them right here and right now. People are defending the shit like potential russian collusion and the healthcare changes that shaft people with pre-existing conditions because "fuk u i got mine fagot" and it isn't affecting them. This is going to affect just about everyone in the U.S, and they won't have their happy share of the pie anymore, so they can't deny the reality of the situation anymore. They WILL need to do something, or else shit is going to get worse.
:bullshit:
Funny that Canada went the opposite direction. Phew.
no we didn't. keep fighting this shit you've got more power than you think.
Lol no we don't what are you saying. These people don't care about protests, and none of us have money to sway them. It's over
Lol no we don't what are you saying. These people don't care about protests, and none of us have money to sway them. It's over
It isn't: send the FCC messages and shit right now as to why you think that Title II rules + Net Neutrality should still be protected.
Send the FCC a letter: Federal Communications Commission 445 12th Street, SW Washington, DC 20554 Give the FCC a call: 1-888-225-5322 Send a strongly worded email to Ajit: Ajit.Pai@fcc.gov Send a strongly worded email to these FCC Commissioners: Mignon.Clyburn@fcc.gov Mike.O'Rielly@fcc.gov
I urge you to do so or otherwise it will be over with that kind of defeatist attitude.
Lol no we don't what are you saying. These people don't care about protests, and none of us have money to sway them. It's over
Just sayin', we do have Second Amendment rights. If they refuse to listen through more passive means, then maybe we should get more active.
Just sayin', we do have Second Amendment rights. If they refuse to listen through more passive means, then maybe we should get more active.
Give more Power to the GOP why don't ya.
Just sayin', we do have Second Amendment rights. If they refuse to listen through more passive means, then maybe we should get more active.
The internet is important, but I don't think shooting people will solve anything. It will only make the FCC look like victims. I think Google needs to do a web blackout to protest this.
The internet is important, but I don't think shooting people will solve anything. It will only make the FCC look like victims. I think Google needs to do a web blackout to protest this.
It worked for SOPA, it would certainly work for this bullshit.
For all that is done, I hope /pol/ gets shafted hard for this.
Fucking greedy shitstains.
The internet is important, but I don't think shooting people will solve anything. It will only make the FCC look like victims. Not only does the U.S flip shit, but the attention is bought towards international users too, essentially giving everyone the perfect reason to stay the fuck out until this whole thing blows over, and even then wait a bit so that we can un-break things like healthcare and somesuch.

Like, this is six-year-old "no backsies" tier shit.
this doesn't affect me! I just use the internet for facebook and twitter! [sp]s[/sp]
Lol no we don't what are you saying. These people don't care about protests, and none of us have money to sway them. It's over
this kind of attitude is what give men like ajit pai power. don't be this guy send the fcc a message and contact your reps and senators. put pressure on these jerks
Now I'm hoping real life big protest outside of FCC headquarters to change their minds. If not we need find way to get Pai force resign.

What's more likely is they squeeze them and any other competition out of existence by not even offering a deal to give them proper traffic to begin with. It's extra sinister.
/pol/ and t_d are more split on net neutrality than any other issue but for the most part they oppose it and see it as a big (leftist) government takeover of the internet.
So they haven't thought it through that leaving control of the internet in the hands of an entity bound by the Constitution might be a good thing? They haven't thought about the fact that with net neutrality gone the government they so oppose giving power to could circumvent the constitution by forging agreements with the few ISP quasi-monopolies(which has been done before with banks)?
Lol no we don't what are you saying. These people don't care about protests, and none of us have money to sway them. It's over
Your endless pessimism is getting old. Maybe the reason you think nobody has any power over anything is because you have no power over your own life, but don't project that onto the rest of us lol
I hope the internet tears Ajit Pai a new asshole over this.
Your endless pessimism is getting old. Like you're just being a dick for no reason and trying to get in epic zingers because someone slightly disagrees with you.
