Waking up today was a mistake
:bullshit:
Actually it's about as American as it gets. [editline]18th May 2017[/editline] It's just missing a minority getting specifically fucked
Your endless pessimism is getting old. Maybe the reason you think nobody has any power over anything is because you have no power over your own life, but don't project that onto the rest of us lol
Nice zinger but while you were busy being a dick you kinda failed to refute my point. What could anyone do short of a nationwide strike using millions of individuals, or outright civil violence.
Nice zinger but while you were busy being a dick you kinda failed to refute my point. The only way to fight this is to get a new FCC chairman. Otherwise, common joe can't do anything.

I urge you to do so or otherwise it will be over with that kind of defeatist attitude.

The only way to fight this is to get a new FCC chairman. Otherwise, common joe can't do anything.
Oh I forgot it's 1984
If this does get dismantled, is there a way to still get an uncensored internet through ways like VPNs or proxies?
Oh I forgot it's 1984
sod off with this comparison. you depower an incredibly important piece of literature by senselessly citing it (when you probably haven't even read it) in situations where it's not apt.
Getting up and voting these dipshits out of office would be a good start
Can people vote out Ajit Pai in the 2018 Midterm or how? I'm not that knowledgeable on this kind of stuff :s:
sod off with this comparison. you depower an incredibly important piece of literature by senselessly citing it (when you probably haven't even read it) in situations where it's not apt.
But you digress
Nice zinger but while you were busy being a dick you kinda failed to refute my point. What could anyone do short of a nationwide strike using millions of individuals, or outright civil violence.
idk I guess we have nothing we can do except complain on the internet for months at a time, and tell other people they cant do anything. Thanks for all the help lil buddy
Can people vote out Ajit Pai in the 2018 Midterm or how? But out if you vote out the people that voted for this guy, next time the vote comes around we won't get a shitty person
idk I guess we have nothing we can do except complain on the internet for months at a time, and tell other people they cant do anything. Thanks for all the help lil buddy
I mean I don't want to piss on your parade, but yeah, in many ways this is a very bad situation. Ajit Pai has outright said he will not take any number of comments into account with his decisions. So yes, comment and post and complain to the FCC all you want, I encourage you to do so, but he has outright stated none of that will matter to him. He's a mini dictator appointed by a big dictator waiting for a payout from Verizon and his other corporate overlords(Who he literally used to work for). I encourage you to post complaints on their page, but I am telling you that he will ignore them. Short of getting a new head of the FCC, it's a very difficult battle to even make a next move in. It's incredibly sad, and I'm not trying to say "don't do things", I'm just genuinely pointing out what the people in charge have said about how little they care about your complaints. The only way to fix this is to remove Pai, and as long as him and Trump are buddy buddy as they are at the moment that's unlikely to happen. Actionable things are all that really matter when it comes to this, and there's not many things you can do to get people who outright don't care about your needs/desires to listen to you or take you into account because the system has been built and stacked for that this time. Complain to your senators or congresspeople and hope they can do something about this.
God, I [del]love[/del] this new trend of "do X thing the other side doesn't like, AND ALSO MAKE IT UNALTERABLE UNTIL THE END OF TIME". Like, this is six-year-old "no backsies" tier shit.
It's almost like they know that they're fucked for years to come after this term is over.
Getting up and voting these dipshits out of office would be a good start
Some of us did vote, for all the good that does when one is in a state deep one color or the other thanks to our wonderful election system.
Getting up and voting these dipshits out of office would be a good start
not when the state you live in sucks the republican party's dick every year voting is pointless
They'd need to bring it to a vote. But if I recall correctly one of Pai's goals is to explicitly pass restrictions on what the FCC can do in the future. And overriding their rescinded net neutrality laws is one of those things.
Laws can be changed. The GOP isn't the only party that can use the Nuclear option.
not when the state you live in sucks the republican party's dick every year voting is pointless
Defeatist attitudes aren't going to help things either.
Defeatist attitudes aren't going to help things either.
No of course not, but does anyone have any idea of what we can actually do about this? It's pretty clear they don't give half-a-shit about what the average citizen thinks.
not when the state you live in sucks the republican party's dick every year voting is pointless
I mean maybe the vote would be closer if people didn't just throw their arms up in the air and give up. Why do people see a difficult situation and take it as an excuse to less instead of more?
No of course not, but does anyone have any idea of what we can actually do about this? It's pretty clear they don't give half-a-shit about what the average citizen thinks.
Keeo it an issue. Make it clear that we want Net Neutrality after the piece stinking up the FCC is ousted. Complain, complain, complain. Make it an issue in the next election.
Submitted my comments.
Dear Mr. Pai, Since you and your colleagues have demonstrated that you can easily be bought, I would like to present you with an offer you cannot refuse: If by some miracle you actually do the right thing and preserve the future of this country and it's economy, I will personally buy you an even larger version of your ridiculous coffee mug. Get in contact with me after your (hopeful) vote for net-neutrality. PS: If you vote the other way and destroy net neutrality in this country, expect the telecoms to take full advantage of that, and Silicon Valley to find greener pastures elsewhere.
https://advocacy.mozilla.org/en-US/net-neutrality-comments/
It truly amazes me how there are SO MANY PEOPLE who think that business practices (especially in Internet service providing and Healthcare) will suddenly become LESS profit hungry and screw over consumers LESS when you get rid of all regulations Yeah we just have to give them free reign to fuck us, and not only will they NOT fuck us, they'll throw in ice cream! -every ancap fuck ever

At the very least Newt Gingrich called them stupid

It's a case of "We won't do it again! Pinky-pwomise!"
