Court is not a place to fuck around. Case in point.

That said, though, the court is supposed to represent freedom. Whether it's intended to or not, the courts and the justice system are symbols of a civilisation's democracy and commitment to same.

Since before Roman times, court has always been a place of respect towards the guy who can decide to have you killed, dismembered, or imprisoned. Granted I respect your idealism, but it's only recently that law has been designed to protect freedom rather than prevent it. Tradition dies hard, and this guy is probably going to get charged with contempt of court.
That's against the law. He might as well come in there naked.

I'm on the fence about the whole matter, really. Like you said, the court is supposed to be a place of respect - especially the Supreme Court - and I lean more towards the idea that if you're going somewhere like that you should be be on your best behaviour, if not out of respect for the state at least out of respect for what that building represents. The law is a solemn thing and doesn't lend itself to levity.
Then again, though, the court should be a place where freedom of expression is at least allowed if not paramount, otherwise it sort of undermines the whole idea that the law is indeed there to protect freedom (de jure, if not de facto, but that's another debate).

well the point of courts being a place where people decide to legally murder and imprison others is something that should fade away. in the usa there is the facade that the court system is meant to uphold justice, rather than simply be a system of control.
