Then try to get the countries to understand that using a clean nuke is: -Fast -Efficient (Lots of destruction, small bomb) -Clean (Not much radiation) And that is solves the North Korean problem in a flash! As long as you don't target civilian areas it should be fine.
You are quite possibly the biggest idiot I've seen recently.
I can't wait for the new level 80 dungeon. DARE YOU ENTER KIM JONGS PALACE.
I think the joke was aimed at Koreans and Starcraft, not WoW...
Just the surrounding ones, like China, Russia, and South Korea. Simply inform them that the blast won't leave radiation and will be targeted at the NK military. Let them watch. Once every country knows exactly where the bomb hit and how much radiation was released, they'll say "Oh, our fears of this strike were unjustified! Now that NK's military has fallen we can send regular troops and take the cities and all!" and everything will be right in the world. Kinda.
Good lord.
Do you want to live in a world where nations throw around such a powerful weapon all the time? Where a nuclear weapon can be used for anything from a full scale war to a border dispute? Nuclear bombs are far too powerful, they are better off locked away forever.
What would you prefer? A - Small bomb used to destroy military bases and some outposts, military walks in, takes control. Conflict over. A few cities nuked. B - Wars that take years, use up HUGE amounts of money, pollute the environment, kill thousands of soldiers and innocent civilians, leave cities in chaos, where rape, murder and sacking are common, then leavethe country so damaged it takes decades to recover, if it ever does. [editline]09:28PM[/editline]
Why exactly are you Guys Hating on Eudoxia so much?, He's approaching this situation very clinically. If you had a Weapon that could destroy your opponent in one fell swoop effectively ending a War in Hours not Days, Months or Years I would seriously consider it as apposed to wasting the lives of our servicemen and women and the lives of civilians in a conventional War Just because it'll make us look bad. There's Dealing with a threat effectively, and then there's throwing Lives into a Meat Grinder for PR. And I highly doubt that we would launch a Nuclear weapon without alerting China and/or Russia that it isn't aimed at them.
This p. much sums it up.
Most people on here dont realize the US's part in the world today. Coming out of the Cold War, we really are the Lone Super Power and honestly are more advanced in tech than Russia. We are the most advanced military... We HAVE to get involved with the war (if there is one) because of being allies with South Korea, and think about it. Remember the Nazis? Maybe if they were stopped early enough they wouldn't have caused so much trouble. same with North Korea, we want to stop the problem before they expand their influence. Take some simple US History ffs.

Do you even know what you're talking about anymore? [editline]03:30PM[/editline] This isn't a fucking RTS video game.
Also to all you NUKES ARE BAD people here I Have a question. Nuke Japan Or Send 200,000 Men to their Deaths trying to invade?. Your decision?.

It was nothing more than military posturing to scare anyone who might stand against us.

Your decision?.
You're forgetting this was in 1945. The long term damage and radiation wasn't fully realized at the time, not to mention it was one of the first nukes ever, and the major powers of the world didn't have them other than America. Yes, the nuke was vital to end WW2, but it also caused severe mutations and sickness in those that came in contact to the radiation. This can be justified as a 1 death instead of 10 situation, but the current North Korean situation isn't worth throwing a nuke into. The fallout will go all over China, South Korea and Japan, there's risks of Russia and China firing one back, because they sure as hell won't approve the US using one, and it'll cause a huge international relationship crisis with the US. Not to mention the fallout will cause shitloads of deaths in surrounding countries, destroy the environment of North Korea, and generally be not worth "A few cities and military bases". Get this around your head, for fuck sake.
I expect war within 10 days.

I'm sorta glad this war might finally happen. Not to be ignorant to many lives that a new Korean War would claim, but this conflict is inevitable, and I think that NK off the map would be better for the world. Not to say that there won't be any more "bad" countries left, but their propaganda and starvation of civilians needs to end. I hope that if there is a conflict, it goes quickly, and with minimal casualties. Just my opinion. [editline]12:05AM[/editline]
You are quite possibly the biggest idiot I've seen recently.
If we drop a nuke anywhere, the USA will get fisted harder than North Korea.

Get this around your head, for fuck sake.
There are ways to prevent the fallout, as I have said before. See: Clean nukes. Look it up. A small amount of Uranium is used to catalyze a fusion reaction. The fusion reaction releases a lot of energy, and there are no deadly gamma ray flares or radiactive debris. The amount of radiation left by the Uranium is nearly negligible compared to common nukes. There would be no fallout with a common nuke, however, if detonated over a city, everyone would scream at the attacking country for human rights and all. Before you say anything, I have already stated in many of my posts that I'm not in favor of dropping nukes over civilians, only over military targets to weaken the defending armies, i.e: The areas where satellites indicate a lrge amount of military personnel and equipment in a small area. There would be other things to consider, for example, launching an ICBM in a zone of international conflict without, you know, telling everyone but the target, would be foolish. If I remember correctly, they didn't launch a missile that could've killed Saddam Hussein because it would've flown over Pakistan and they would've thought it was from India, and an international conflict would've started.
South Korea should setup big Billboards along the border with the loud speakers displaying weekly photoshops of Kim Jong Il
As such, high-yield clean bombs were a public relations exercise. The actual deployed weapons were the dirty version, which maximized yield for the same size device.
^
-im so fucking stupid-
Nuclear. Bombs. Are. Banned. From. Use. By. 265. Nations. Because. Sending. Armed. Troops. Is. Less. Diplomatically. Sensitive. If. You. Can't. Figure. Out. Why. You. Are. An. Idiot. Or. A. Very. Good. Troll.

The big question is, who will win. My bet is on South, they have a big army, and the technology to back it up.
You're just trolling on this now
Jesus Christ. That's it, last straw. I'm out.
I think Clinton needs to back the fuck off and stop making America look like a damn bulldog, let the SK sort it out and stop turning this into an international incident. [editline]01:24AM[/editline]
Jesus Christ. That's it, last straw. I'm out.
Bye troll.
Geez I was just suggesting. Not my fault that every country is run by people who think nuclear weapons are bad. They are very efficient and don't cost much.
I'm seriously doubting your level of intelligence right now.
Elaborate. Lots of destruction, little amounts of radiation. Unless you have some random guy launching it, the nuke will just hit and in a fraction of a second sublimate dozens of thousands of troops without leaving radiation behind. There won't be any huge cloud of radioactive materials floating around. The other countries won't have to worry.
Thats not the point, they still won't like it, quite possibly breaking a lot of treaties by doing that and all..
Bye troll.
"Oh no, I can't back up my opinions, maybe if I call this guy one of these 'trolls' I've heard so much about, everything will be allright" Must... Resist... Temptation to... Reply... To... Thread...

Reply... To... Thread...
-Sigh- Nuclear weapons are banned by international treaty. Although the Cold War is over, nuclear weapons are still diplomatically sensitive and are purely meant to register nation strength rather than to be used as weapons. If the US uses a bomb, China and Russia will believe the US has abandoned all it's principles and restart it's nuclear stockpiling, as the US has become a real threat once more. The same would happen vise versa. Korea would become another Proxy war and a second cold war would begin. It doesn't matter how 'clean' these weapons are - they're still nukes. Illegal to use in armed conflict. They also poison the water supply, poison the land, and poison the water tables no matter how 'clean' they are, condemning thousands of children to deformity and illness. While throwing men and machines into wars is horrible - they're still employed volunteers paid to fight. Wars are an occupational hazard. They can also be controlled, called back, and be used to lessen collateral damage. Nukes are far worse economically, politically and environmentally than any conventional war.

Even if you disagree with him, it's not like he's outright insulting everybody and spouting stupid stuff with no backup to it.
