Cosmo and Bloomberg's Gun Control Group Invent Term "Gunsplainer"

Oh my god this is fucking hilarious. Especially all the people outraged over this. It's like someone gave 4chan a taste of it's own medicine...
Aren't most gun crimes commited with illegal guns? What's the point of having more gun control when it doesn't stop the real criminals?
And even with most victims of gun crimes being men, they had to make this about women. Of course.
Also, let's use the famous "rational argument x I AM SILLY" schtick to misrepresent the other side of the argument.
Like a clockwork.
This screams "We have no valid points, but we still want to feel morally superior." Every response they propose is stupider than the arguments they're responding to.
I don't understand why women had to be shoehorned into half the responses
My favorite part of the image that that despite around 80% of gun violence victims are men it has to be "WE MUST DO THIS TO PROTECT THE WOMEN1!!"
Also holy fuck that's enough strawmen to fill a high school reunion.
Scare tactics aren't the way to keep us all safe.
Yeah so why do you exclusively use the term "violence against women" instead of simply "violence".
Well obviously in an ideal country nobody would need a gun but in this country criminals do, in fact, have guns.
The brilliant thing is that if nobody needed guns, everyone could have them if they wanted to. "Nobody needs guns" is a self-defeating statement.

Most illegal guns were legal guns in the US, in private hands and then stolen. If there was a reduction of legal guns sold you most likely would see a decrease in the overall supply of illegal guns.

The only reasonable thing on the image.

It is Cosmo. I can't imagine more than a very tiny percentage of men reading Cosmo, and an even smaller percentage of them read it to take it seriously. Women are clearly the target audience here, it's just that "Violence against women must be reduced!" is an absolutely terrible argument for even universal background checks.
i'd imagine because dem obummer went and outlawed chocolate AR-15 lower sales with his unconstitutional chocolate pen signing an order written on the back of a hershey's wrapper
first he'll come for our chocolate guns, next he'll start taking away our chocolate bunnies, then where will we be!
because 4chan secretly controls the NRA and represents the entire pro gun lobby
It's fucking stupid how people blame 4chan for anything they disagree with
Ideal and real rarely coincide.
Well the issue is neither side is right, I've never had a need to defend my home, police have done that fairly well and most people never will have to physically defend their home from attack, but there have been cases where someone has defended themselves from a break in and wouldn't have if they hadn't had a gun.
But then we are talking about a non existent middle ground as long as 1) the NRA is making pro-gun policy, as its in their interest to sell guns and 2) we keep having people shoot up places that didn't need protection before, which is a symptom of larger issues, such as mental health and domestic terrorism, which won't be addressed by lawmakers either

*stupid article appears*
*people call it stupid*
"haha lol!!! i can't believe people are so outraged by this! cosmo and bloomberg are such epic trolls and only pretending to be retarded, take that you meanies at 4chan!"
Oh yes, Cosmo, the news site that tried to shame Edward Snowden for liking hentai. Good journalism.

4chan has been given it's own "medicine" and either ignores it every time or subverts it. All that "splainer" does is completely shit up political discussion and entrench extremists in their views even further.
Aren't most gun crimes commited with illegal guns? What's the point of having more gun control when it doesn't stop the real criminals?
Then shouldn't you, as a society, ask yourselves why there are so many illegal guns in the first place?
Havent watched the video yet but I honestly found the image to be fairly agreeable and nothing to really get worked up over, and Im not someone who likes Cosmo at all for various reasons. Am I just being misled by manipulative journalism?
The US needs to educate its population better and needs much better mental health care. Merely throwing more gun control won't solve shit.
There used to be gun education in schools, but the anti's pushed to have that removed. Abstinence doesn't work for sex ed, but they think it'll work with gun safety.

It's always seemed bizarre to me that some people don't understand the correlation between easy access to firearms and widespread illegally owned firearms.

Not really a news source tho.
Cosmo is to journalism what a cat is to a birdcage. Totally unrelated. Cosmo is a magazine, not a news source. Journalistic integrity hasn't really ever been, or really needed to be, a thing in magazines that consist entirely of opinion pieces and trash tier gossip. When they start trying to pass themselves off as a news source, then you can panic about "journalistic integrity". Right now it's just a rag of a mag.

lmao comparing sex ed to gun safety. cute.
People are generally going to encounter sex in their lives, it's important to know the repercussions of a basic bodily function before you doom yourself to an eternity of weird rashes. It's entirely possible to go your entire life without needing to touch a firearm.
There's no reason to teach gun safety in schools outside of "don't point it at other people holy shit you kids are crazy". If you are going to argue that shooting is a hobby, then it shouldn't really be covered in educational material, it'd just be taking time away from actually useful shit.

I'd say in any rural area where you're likely to encounter hunters with guns, people with guns, or wild animals that require you to have a gun for safety, there's no harm in teaching proper gun safety.
I actually can't see any harm to knowing how to properly handle a gun.
why is everything so fucking passive aggressive nowadays
cosmo isn't really news though, or even journalism, its more like a blog, but even less somehow

Maybe they should require a gun safety course before buying a gun, like a certificate which says you took the course.

It's what we do in Canada and since we started licensing/doing a safety course gun violence and accidents have been reduced. I mean you could shout correlation vs causation hypothetically but it definitely seems like it's helping. Our departments are horribly understaffed tho, I've heard of people waiting over 7 months for a renewal (license expiry date is every 5 years). Getting mine was pretty quick and painless but I followed every step to speed it along and I have a spotless record, definitely takes a long time for some people.

There is no real reason for a chocolate assault weapon to have a magazine that large. Who really needs that much chocolate anyway? I think we should ban extended chocolate magazines.

Look how short the stock and barrel are too, its obviously made for concealment so they can sneak it past checkpoints into chocolate gun free zones like movie theaters.

Unless you reduced the gun supply so much that almost nobody had them legally, reducing them slightly would have no effect on the number of illegal weapons. Just because there's slightly less in circulation doesn't mean there will be less stolen.

By giving them a new meme and once again proving liberal stupidity in their eyes?
