Hope to get CSS for a friend so I can show him the other half of GMod (Multiplayer)
EA with Origin talks about how sales reduce the value of games. I look at my purchasing practices - I haven't bought a game not on sale 75% off on Steam in months, I think - and perhaps that's right.
EA is full of shit as far as the relationship between me and them are concerned. If I'm waiting for a game to go on sale it's because I refused to pay what they consider full price for it. If it doesn't go on sale I'll never buy it, I've made that decision and will hold it. They reduced their value of the game when I decided it was shit enough to not warrant full price. I haven't paid full price for a major game since Fallout 3, and I only bought that at full price based on the knowledge of the eventual mods that would fix the countless problems and shortcomings of the game. Then, later in life, I realized paying full price for a game I already decided required mods to complete the experience was idiotic and is the reason I've yet to buy Skyrim. To elaborate, rewarding developers and publishers for the work of Modders or otherwise outside parties to make the game up to my standards is foolish. It's supporting destructive development mindsets in much the same way people that hate Diablo 3's DRM are by paying for the game even though they despise that very DRM. I've been doing it since long before Steam ever came around, in fact people have been doing it for thousands of years in other ventures; I fail to see why it's any surprise that people would be smart with their money in this one. Which is all it really is -- people being smart with their money. As time goes on and the economic struggles of today increase pressure on the population it's no wonder people are applying smarter financial thinking to their entertainment purchases. EA and other like minded publishers are simply going through the phase that almost all other forms of product businesses have; people wising up. Every time I see EA complain about this kind of thing it makes me laugh at how out of touch with the concepts of the market they seem to be. Anyway I've rambled on enough; in short I have my own standards for video games and if they aren't met I simply do not pay for them until they reach a price I've judged is equal to the quality of the game; if they never go on sale they never see my money. EA whining and refusing to lower their prices isn't going to make me cave and buy a game because I have the pride and dignity to keep to my standards -- I can live without a video game, that money can be better spent supporting a business I have more faith in.
Which will be good for all these guys
How many people are on that list?
Wait no please valve, my wallet isn't ready yet
My wallet will be ready by monday. BRING IT ON
:(
I came into this thread expecting a Source Film with the Engineer apologizing or something. Would've been awesome :v:
I've got no money for games atm so the longer they prolong launching the summer sale, the better it is for me.
I hope we get the achievements and items and such as well. I want to get the summer shades, I never had a chance to last time. :(
I bet the new economo-fuckass they hired is the reason the summer sale is so late.
No they hired him to look at the tf2 virtual economy and that has nothing to do with a summer sale
Doesn't the summer sale usually happen later in July?
If it starts next Thursday that will he great since I will get paid on the Friday.... If it starts earlier I can't go on a spending spree
How many people are on that list?
A number we haven't even heard of before.
I am ok with this, as I recently got a job what pays well enough to put something on the side for games. Hooraay for a job!
"sometime this summer" No shit
Better make it December... It's summer time in some countries :D
Wait people are getting angry at this? That's kind of pathetic if it's true.
They're hyping themselves to the point of no return, then they get angry because it didn't live up to their fantasy and tell it to everyone on the fucking planet. It's really fucking sad.
I bet the new economo-fuckass they hired is the reason the summer sale is so late.
Man they discount hundreds of games for 50% off and all you can do is complain when they're a little late huh
Cool. Garry once rated my post agree.
Wow now you're totally more important than a mod!
Oh yeah baby! Sumer 3012 looking forward to it~
I bet the new economo-fuckass they hired is the reason the summer sale is so late.
yes the economist dedicated to their in game economies is slowing down a summer sale
Valve have really buggered up when people feel fucking entitled to a sale.
Valve have really buggered up when people feel fucking entitled to a sale.
Despite everything Valve has done for the industry, they spawned some of the most entitled shitheads in gaming.
Its not unreasonable to expect that they will have a sale since they had have summer and winter sales for the last two years or so but theres no point in getting mad about there not being one in time/at all
A sale should be seen as an act of generosity to get more sales, you shouldn't feel entitled to one.
/v/ has proclaiming every day that "TODAY SALES START" Which includes huge amounts of hype and disappointment when there is only another daily deal
"TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT, GUYS! IT BEGIIIIIINNSSSSSS!"
Fans: When will we have the summer sale? Valve: Sometime this summer.

A sale should be seen as an act of generosity to get more sales, you shouldn't feel entitled to one.
Exactly, but a lot of the entitled assholes will feel as though they'll need to be compensated somehow in return for a late/no sale and I hope they are[sp]in hats[/sp]
I hope we get the achievements and items and such as well.
Indeed! What I almost love more than cheap games are the days where Valve makes us play (old) games and the community working together to get achievements.
doesn't really matter to me ill be on vacation for most of july
If you own all the games you already got i would suggest to do the same thing as i do Buy random games that are dirt cheap, already found a few gems :v:
