My friend working at EB Games just got a package from Valve saying don't open untill the July 8th. Maybe the sale will start this Sunday?
I'm personally hoping they don't start it until the 21st July. Thats when I get back from my Holiday. I don't want to miss a single DAY of these sales.

Meanwhile people who actually kept their eyes open know it's gonna start on the 12th.
I hope Arma 2 is going onsale :). But seeminly that valve is making a huge ton of cash of it, I highly doubt it.

Can't people fucking wait a few days? Sheesh...
trust me it happens with every valve thing fanboys are too impatient, you should've seen portal 2 last year i even got flamed for saying people are overhyped about it

I think they do that because technically we are still in summer, and the southern hemisphere is in early summer, so it's not out of place for everyone. Makes coordination a lot easier.
Dear Mary, You may remember me from a while back when you sent me that radical holographic card with the CS:GO beta on it (thanks for that by the way). Well this time, I'm here to ask something else of you. Walk into Gabe's office, press the big red button labeled "START STEAM SUMMER SALE", you know, the one right next to the "RELEASE EPISODE 3" button? I can't promise much, but I sure can promise pictures of dolphins. Please, for the sake of the Steam Community, do this mission! Thanks, - Dylan
It's okay guys, I just sent this to front desk Mary, she's our inside agent.

I don't really like the reaction to this; people getting as upset as they are and acting as if they are entitled to a sale - it's entirely in Valve's hands and I feel when they have sales should be at their discretion. To me it's kind of like getting upset at a distant family member for not being able to give you something for your birthday; Steam sales are a predictable occurrence but they're not totally set in stone as if it were a winter holiday.
How entitled do you have to be to actually feel anger over the fact that there isn't a big sale? I mean, Steam is pretty much the king of big sales, and they rock our wallets with at least four or five big sales a year. If anything, I'm a little relieved that there hasn't been a sale! My bank balance is teetering on the edge as it is!
Despite everything Valve has done for the industry, they spawned some of the most entitled shitheads in gaming.
Well it's a bit different. This is a yearly thing they've done for 2 years and they would always make a big, huge deal about it. It's not so much that we're entitled to it, but that it's expected of them to have a summer sale. We're like fucking pavlov's dog here. Every year for 2 years as soon as summer started, you'd get a sale so we expect a sale, so this year when summer dawns we start drooling for our dinner like pavlov's dogs, except our dinner is really cheap games. Personally i don't care if there is a sale or not because if i want a game, i go out and buy it. The only thing i'm looking forward to when the sale comes is to see if arma2 goes on sale so that my friends buy it, because they will only buy it if it goes on sale.
Some time in the summer, of 2151. Working with Valve time here folks
Whatever, making me wait for Episode 3, making me wait for SFM, now for the sale..... Well, I'm tired of waiting, so Amazon got my money. [editline]7th July 2012[/editline] But I do appreciate the free games you gave out the last Winter sale :v: Valve and their fans have the most bipolar community. Just deal with it
I'm not even sure I want to buy anything this year, but the Big Sales Events are just exciting to see what Valve does in concern to what games go on sale (Even if I already own them) and what big promotions go on during the duration (How could they top winning every game on steam?). I'm actually looking forward more to the Summer Achievements (Assuming they return). It'll be 11 days of not knowing which games I'll have to play.
You know you've really made it as a company when people get mad at you for not letting them give you all of their money.
The entitlement and temper tantrums are kinda funny in a sad way. The summer sale is a gift in itself from Valve, they don't have to do it (although financially it is very worth doing) so I don't see the problem in waiting for them to be ready to launch it. They have said it is happening as most expected so it's just a matter of time, and with that extra time it means people can save a bit more money to load into the wallets ready for the super saver deals of Q2. I might be biased on that last bit though, been pretty glad the sale hasn't started yet as until I get paid next week I'd miss out on alot going by the registry leaks. My body is ready, my wallet is not just yet.
The sales recently have been complete shit anyway. I seem to remember a time when we had one good sale in the summer, and one good sale at christmas and that was it and everybody impulse bought everything because of how rare they were. Now we seem to be having sales every 5 seconds and frankly I don't bother buying games when they come out because I know they'll be on sale soon enough.
To quote Smurfster on this one:
Shut the FUCK up and take my money google (in this case steam) you piece of SHIT
is basically what people are saying
Amazon has some really good summer sales right now actually. Plus you can use the keys on steam.
