Good thing MM3D is nothing like that, then, what with the updated models and textures and effects.
Just becomes they update the textures and models in an older game does not make it a remake, it's an enhanced re-release. Resident Evil on the Gamecube is an example of a proper remake. Not only was the whole game remade from scratch, the script was completely reworked.
if you're honestly going to play Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask with emulator texture packs, get the actual good ones: the cel-shaded, wind waker style ones [img_thumb]http://i52.tinypic.com/2dgkdxc.png[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i55.tinypic.com/w1uqg4.jpg[/img_thumb] all the other ones are garbage, especially those "HD" ones you're using. These ones are actually complete as well, but they're somewhat incompatible with the US version (only minor errors, nothing too drastic, like some periods and commas in text being the old graphics instead of the new ones, and all of the item cutscene 'dah nah nah naaaah' models having gray textures)
Ease up mate, I'm not using those texture packs, just found the only half decent screenshots I could online as an example. If and when I replay OoT or MM, I'll look around for the packs you mentioned. Never did finish MM sadly, got up to some part which for some reason I recall being frustrating and boring, and ended up selling my N64 not long after that :(
Majoras Mask is my favorite game. Everyone birches about the time reset mechanic doesn't actually understand what it does
And this is not coming to the Wii U... why exactly? They didn't feel it would look pretty enough to warrant a console release? Not enough Wii U owners? Want to boost sales for 3DS further?
i would've thought that it would make sense for what is the direct sequel to Ocarina of Time, which is remastered for 3DS, to be also on the 3DS since they both use the same engine. i mean they could release it both on 3DS and Wii U but that would be so overkill.
I'm so jizzing my pants right now. I would so love to play this shit in 3D. Also i'd like to see what OOT would look like with a more realistic tone instead of using windwaker form
Who does link look like he belongs in Runescape?
Slayer
This makes me moist.
In Ocarina of Time 3D, they removed a lot of the gore in the Bottom of the Well. I hope they don't baby down Majora's Mask as well.
Why would you want to play the same game you played on your TV again but on a tiny 240p screen with horrible controls?
But...the original is 240p. Here's a screenshot of it running at native resolution: If anything, the 3DS version is actually gaining horizontal resolution over the original. (400x240 2D/800x240 3D vs 320x240) Also, the controls are MUCH better on 3DS. Or at least they were in OoT3D. Motion aiming with the bow is so useful to the point of it almost being overpowered for the puzzles that require it and the item system is far more streamlined via the touch screen (essentially adding more buttons). Of course, all the new controls could be done on Wii U as well, but I don't personally mind that it's on 3DS. I think 3DS' power level gives a good middleground where the game can still retain its classic aesthetic and atmosphere without being over-upgraded into HD oblivion. Wind Waker was a good fit for Wii U because it had an extremely distinct style that already looked good in HD without major tweaking, whereas Majora's Mask would require a complete and total redo to achieve 'good' graphics on a current-gen console. It looks amazing.
Can't wait for the NA version to totally ruin it with a golden piss filter like both OoT3D and WWHD did.
Oh shit this is coming out just before my Birthday. I know what I'm getting now. :D

I played this for maybe 3 days when I borrowed my friend's console and played it. My crappy TV was too dark and I wandered around the town bumping into walls and getting startled by everything. Nothing actually scary happened (other than the moon) but I was so afraid of going anywhere. I returned it and never played it again. I've always wanted to play it for real and I'll continue to be on complete lockdown for details until it comes out; since I only have enough information to know how amazing this game is. HYPE
HOLY SHIT I AM SO GODDAMN HYPED
This is fantastic news. Though to be honest, if you want a fresher, cleaner looking Majora's Mask experience, you really should try emulating the N64 version and using some of the texture packs and enhancements. I don't have many good screenshots on hand, but it can look pretty amazing with the right packs installed. Ocarina of Time included... [t]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/squall_leonhart69r/Legend_Of_Zelda/Community%20Textures/Project642010-04-2120-26-54-40.jpg[/t] [t]http://biasedvideogamerblog.wdfiles.com/local--files/blog:n64-texture-enhancement-projects/MJMCell2.jpg[/t]
Those look terrible.
Some where, far off in the city of New York, the screams of Jontron can be heard.
I have never beaten a Zelda game before. I've played the first Zelda and Ocarina of Time, but never beat them. I want to play Majora's Mask, but I own nothing to play it on :C

Actually, I'd probably see it in Purple... But again, NoA does make weird decisions... like not giving us cool pre-order stuff.
WW was a terrible fit for the WiiU because it benefited the least from a graphical update, and arguably lost something in the transition.
I concur, for the most part. What I meant was that WW is a better fit for Wii U than 3DS and I was using it as a comparison to show why MM is better off on 3DS than Wii U. FYI: The only changes made to Wind Waker HD were the redone character models, the new shader, and running in 1080p. Everything else is untouched. OOT 3D updated or remade almost every model in the game (including level geometry), redid almost every texture, improved the audio quality, improved the controls, and reworked several dungeons in the game. OOT3D and likely MM3D are more "remade" than WWHD and it's a fucking stupid argument in the first place. In addition, Majora's Mask on N64 ran at 320x240. Don't pretend like the 3DS version is a step down. It's also well known that the resolution of the 3DS generally looks just fine on the actual 3DS screen, unlike the N64 on anything other than a CRT. And before anyone fucking mentions emulators, 3DS emulators already exist and it's only a matter of time before they're stable and capable of running 3DS games in an HD resolution. It's a moot point. The remake looks better than the original.
I... NEEEEEEED THIS.
Iwata mentioned some gameplay fixes like OOT3D, I wonder what they're talking about, MM doesn't have a Water Temple equivalent to completely overhaul.

The water temple in MM was a bitch to get to from memory.
