Firefox still can't install extensions/addons without restarting
Firefox still can't install extensions/addons without restarting
Pretty sure that depends on the addon. AdBlock can do it for whatever reason.
They still haven't fixed the bug where you can't cancel a page load if the server isn't found. Even if you think you canceled it, after the page load timeouts, you'll see the server not found page.
It's extremely annoying if you mistype an address, hit enter and realize it immediately. You have two choices: you close the tab, or you wait a couple seconds for the timeout. Fixing the address immediately won't work: even if you're fast enough to fix it and hit enter again, it won't matter - the timeout is still ticking. You'll get thrown to the server not found page inevitably. If you're slow, you might notice the error and start fixing the address - but when the load timeouts, the address bar loses focus and is reset to the mistyped address.
I'm starting to think it's deliberately designed to annoy people who type fast. All the features the bug has are so subtly clever.
You know what really pisses me off about Firefox though?

This doesn't happen in Chrome.
Firefox still can't install extensions/addons without restarting
A good number of extensions do install without restarts now. It's been that way for quite a few versions, just most extension authors are hacks who don't fix theirs up for it.

i hate chrome because it's a fucking horrible browser in terms of privacy/security, although the aesthetics of it make me exteremely happy, now i have the best of both worlds.

Chrome is quite a memory hog in some situations, too (see labpunch, for example).

It's because Labpunch is still in beta and that's to be expected, wait till Garry tidies up the code or whatever
It's because Labpunch is still in beta and that's to be expected, wait till Garry tidies up the code or whatever
Chrome really does have an issue with memory usage and CPU usage, regularly getting worse than Firefox over a shorter period of time.
I dislike it because it killed status 4 evar and strata toolbar icons, It just looks worse overall.

When userscripts is back up, sure.

The stylish script works just as well, if you simply want the styling of the website fixed.
Faceraper 2013 has a lot of nice features though. You can always disable the stylish script once userscripts is back up.

I doubt he will any time soon, apparently he's also aware how Facepunch is generally slow, but won't do anything about it.

Fucking beautiful.
New browser with custom theme. Amazing.
The one thing I can't find is the "recently closed tabs" and "recently closed windows" options. Where'd they go off to?

Yeah I know but still, I love this browser because it is clean and fast for me

That options Icon > History
very nice, I love this new design.
I like it. Only just used it so I'll have to see how things go down the line.

Just removed the search bar, even better!
Is there anything like this app http://chimeapp.com/ for Firefox?
Yeah I know but still, I love this browser because it is clean and fast for me
Yeah, there are things that Chrome just does better for me and a lot more in Firefox that gives me a headache, especially with the new menus. I think this update was a step up, but I still don't want to use Firefox.
the only two usability problems i have with this update, are the rounded edges on tabs making pinned tabs take up twice the screen-space they used to causing my open tabs to disappear much faster, and being seemingly unable to move the URL bar around to save more screen-space (ideally i'd have it up top with the menu bar).
also the URL bar now seems to not use aero, so it looks out of place and quite aesthetically displeasing.

why does it look like garbage what did I do wrong
I choose chrome over other browsers for one main reason, and thats the omnibar. I hate having to use to separate input areas to either search, or type a web address. Plus I like the look, and its damn fast.

glad this exists, the new tab organization is dogshit
Don't really like it, only big difference I see is that the tabs look like Chrome. It looks odd with my Firefox theme/persona.
I hope it fixes the memory leaks I've been having though, it might be worth it then.
Even closer to chrome are you fucking kidding me. I dislike chrome because I dislike the design. I use firefox because I like the design better and now this? C'mon!
I updated without knowing about this change and it's bugging the living fuck out of me, thank god I found an addon that places the tabs toolbar below the addressbar again though now it looks a lot more shit than it did before because of this retarded new design
Everyone is always a staunch opposer of changes here.
Dumb changes, yes
This addon is pretty great, it doesn't just bring the old theme back, it has a lot of options that you can use to keep some of the new stuff if you want (like the rounded tabs) and it adds back buttons that were removed in the new theme(like the refresh button and the separators), also allows you to move the new menu button around.
It has some conflicts with other addons though. Using Tab Mix Plus's custom colors and the square tabs setting with that addon results in this which looks even worse than the default new tabs:

I'd prefer to use Tab Mix's color settings because the ones that come with that addon make a lot less sense the way they have it all labelled.
I'm still on 2.7, I have it set to automatically update but it has not.
