Been using Firefox for god knows how long now. Always preferred it over chrome I'm going to miss the current interface, to be truthfully honest
I never ditched the old one :v: [t]http://puu.sh/8tbbT.png[/t]
I got the beta a week or so ago because the normal install kept crashing, it's nice and a bit faster when opening a lot of tabs at the same time. It still crashes. Probably some plugin.
it looks like chrome why
Because Chrome is the superior being.
looks far too simplistic and far from how I've used Firefox in the past. Chrome isn't the be-all end all of browsers... It still slows down my PC far more than Firefox.
I'm still on 2.7, I have it set to automatically update but it has not.
On really old versions of FF, you have to actually open the help -> about firefox menu for it to check for updates. And then you generally have to upgrade several times because it won't automatically kick you up to the latest version for whatever reason. Then again Mozilla could have finally removed the archaic versions of Firefox from their update servers so updating is broken beyond xyz old version.
Don't really like it, only big difference I see is that the tabs look like Chrome. It looks odd with my Firefox theme/persona. I hope it fixes the memory leaks I've been having though, it might be worth it then.
Do you use adblock? For me personally if I have adblock off my ram usage is fine. If it is on, it constantly grows and doesn't seem to clear without a restart.
Do you use adblock? For me personally if I have adblock off my ram usage is fine. If it is on, it constantly grows and doesn't seem to clear without a restart.
Using any plugin in FF usually causes a slow memory leak. I never close firefox and after 2-3 weeks it will be eating like 1.5 GB of RAM even with nothing open. I'll have to restart it and it drops back down to ~100-300 MB

After a while running even with 1 tab it still hogs 1+gb.
This has been my Firefox for years now: Any of that new faggot shit that has been coming out simply doesn't affect me because you can pretty much tweak anything from about:config. The only exception was some XML file I had to change to bring that status bar back at the bottom without a close button. If you can't beat 'em, join em? Fuck that, I beat my love juices into Google's mouth, but that's about it. [editline]30th April 2014[/editline] Also, these 3 tabs: 300MB that's it. I'm pretty sure I changed something for that, though.
Someone running Australis open this and tell me what happens chrome://browser/content/browser.xul XUL interfaces, running browsers inside broswers [t]http://5crat.ch/a/7f2p[/t]

[editline]30th April 2014[/editline] The title is also funny. So I can browse while I browse while I browse?
I choose chrome over other browsers for one main reason, and that's the omnibar. I hate having to use to separate input areas to either search, or type a web address. Plus I like the look, and its damn fast.
You don't need the separate search bar, you can just remove it and search in the address bar. I have tested this several times on my Fiber optics and i see almost no difference between the speed of Firefox and Chrome.
Shit, now I have to cancel the update the next time Firefox crashes. I don't want things simple. I want them cluttered like how they should/used to be.
So I finally did update Firefox and I gotta say, I have never seen a browser more f'ed up to the point of being borderline unusable. I'm switching back to Firefox 28.
I switched to Opera a while back Too bad Facepunch refuses to acknowledge it
So I finally did update Firefox and I gotta say, I have never seen a browser more f'ed up to the point of being borderline unusable. I'm switching back to Firefox 28.
No need, Aris made an extension to disable it http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-disable-australis-in-firefox-and-get-back-the-classic-interface/
it looks like chrome why
Well it looked like Opera last time, perhaps they wanted to look like Chrome now. Give it a few more years then it'll look like Safari.
Goddamnit it updated even though I have updates turned off, and browser.tabs.onTop false doesn't work anymore. How the fuck do I go back? I want my tabs on the bottom, where they've been for like 10 fuckin' years.
Goddamnit it updated even though I have updates turned off, and browser.tabs.onTop false doesn't work anymore. How the fuck do I go back? So you're saying that the new update will force tabs on top? What kind of faggotry...
If this doesn't work http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-disable-australis-in-firefox-and-get-back-the-classic-interface/
Will keep an eye on this, in the meantime, I've followed this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-make-new-firefox-look-like-old-firefox

It can get ridiculous and eat up 2GB of RAM in a few hours if I'm doing heavy browsing.
IT'S THE SAME THING..... (lol)
Well I'd just go back to the previous version, but I don't want to lose all the info I have stored here. Bookmarks and addons that I'd have to all go find again. Damnit why do they have to mess with things in the first place, at least make it optional...
Will keep an eye on this, in the meantime, I've followed this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-make-new-firefox-look-like-old-firefox
Or you can use Waterfox which is firefox 28 with 64 bit and more.
Goddamnit it updated even though I have updates turned off
Oh, so it wasn't just me that had this happen? I thought I had somehow managed to hit cancel when disabling automatic updates or something.
Almost fixed it, can't figure out how to get the address bar to be on the transparent bit like it was though. [editline]30th April 2014[/editline] Blah I'm exhausted, I'll try later.
It's a shame the Linux version of Firefox looks like total shit no matter what I do to it. Even the GTK+ theme extension doesn't stop it taking up more space than needed...I miss not having Stratiform.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/htitle/ Maybe not quite what you're looking for, but it should help save some space.
This is what I've been sticking to for years, a completely functional classic layout. A while back I was pissed that they were getting rid of the bottom add-on bar, for those with large enough displays the space is better used for utilities rather than additional webpage space. (I always do my browsing maximized anyways.)
I really don't like it. They've clumped the refresh/cancel button into the address bar and made it so you can't pull the back/forward button out of the address bar, too. Now the home button is to the left of the address bar (and thus back/forward buttons) and I have no option to change it back. If it's going to start looking like Chrome I might as well install Chrome, which I have done.
