Switched over to Waterfox, now i can continue using my same theme that i've been using since 3-4!
I'm surprised that this actually turned out to be a step forward, as the screenshots do just look like chrome but it is actually more customisable than ever I've still got multi rows of tabs (tab mix plus), a native title bar and the address bar on top - but now my addon buttons are organised into a single menu at the top right rather than scattered about on various unnecessary toolbars. http://imgkk.com/i/7851.png Obviously the menu looks beyond awful with the mismatched icons, but it is rarely seen and addon authors will hopefully get things updated.
Well, it certainly looks a lot better than the old default UI did. Looks like I won't have to use stratiform anymore to make it look decent. I've also been using the tabs on top style ever since it was a thing, so that's not a problem for me at all. The only thing I don't like is the retarded decision to merge together buttons that didn't need to be merged, so now I can't have the same layout of the toolbar that I used to have. Why the hell would I need an add bookmark button right next to the bookmark menu button? If I want to add a bookmark I'll just use ctrl+d, damnit. And they're so small and close together that I'll end up misclicking and adding bookmarks when I didn't intend to. What a useless feature, why not just add an option for a standalone bookmarks button? Integrating the back/forward/refresh buttons into the address bar makes no sense either.
On really old versions of FF, you have to actually open the help -> about firefox menu for it to check for updates. And then you generally have to upgrade several times because it won't automatically kick you up to the latest version for whatever reason. Then again Mozilla could have finally removed the archaic versions of Firefox from their update servers so updating is broken beyond xyz old version.
Really old? You mean like, I dunno, Firefox 28?
Really old? You mean like, I dunno, Firefox 28?
That's still how I have to update :v:. Auto-update doesn't always work on my desktop for some reason. I remember when you had to go to their web site to download the updated version.
Opera all the way! ;)
Opera all the way! ;)
Says the person using Chrome, unless it's something to do with the webkit update
Trying it out now, better than I expected, but the tab bar seems off to me.
Opera all the way! ;)
Opera died the moment they switched to chrome for me.
Opera died the moment they switched to chrome for me.
Uh, you mean to the webkit rendering engine? Or did the people at Opera start using Chrome or something...
Opera now uses Google's browser tech but they have Operafied it somewhat. I prefer that browser myself. Right now I'm stuck using the new FF because I'm on Mint since my Win7 install got screwed up. So far this new FF is alright, with the exception of a couple of crashes. One crash came right in the middle of a 2 hour download, so that wasn't cool. Also, it gets really slow sometimes when you try to do several things at once. If I open a tab, then try to edit a speeddial entry while opening the bookmark sidebar, it bogs down.
Maybe your pc is just to slow
If he doesn't have that problem with other browsers, it's more that Firefox is too slow, it's silly to have to upgrade your computer because software is unoptimized
No I don't like Chrome's simplistic interface, give me control without having to go through tons of menus. Edit: Apparently you can turn on the menu bar. But unselected tabs are still invisible by default though.
