looks like a controller to me
Who the hell looks at their controller while playing a game.
They have the same feature on keyboards, but "who looks at the keyboard while playing a game"
Yep, that's a controller alright. Personally I like it's thick bulky look as I prefer controllers that fit my big man hands, like the 360 controller.
That dpad looks worse than the one the previous pads had.
if it aint broke...
This, seriously. Whats wrong with the classic dual shock design that we've had for the last 20 years?
Am I the only one who doesn't like the idea of a screen on the controller? It just feels like time wasted looking down to see something that could have been shown on he tv screen. Not to mention looking away from the game really kills immersion.
If it's done right (ZombiU comes to mind) It's a potential good mechanic that helps immersion.
Looks like soft touch matte pastic, or rubber. Which is a million times better than this glossy smudgey shit.
Only the top is smudgey. The part you actually hold is matte. :|

The DualShock has around 10 buttons, a d-pad, and two joysticks.
All you saying that changing it is stupid, you do realize it's EXACTLY THE SAME LAYOUT with the middle part changed. Looks like it will feel just like the normal dual shock.
-snip- im dumb
Huh. That's funny...I swear this came out recently and sold the fuck out everywhere. If there are details on the controller, it will be looked at.
I agree, except the controller has much more going for it besides a screen, it's big, high resolution and detailed touch screen. The PS4 one is like the size of a lighter, I doubt it would be clear enough for much. I'd expect it simple to show some redundant information, maybe TS style with who is speaking in voice chat or battery info, download info, maybe the time in-the-game world, current objectives, etc. It can help with some minimalistic Huds, but I think it wouldn't serve wellfor serious stuff.
I don't like those analog sticks.
At least it still kinda looks like the dualshock
Those thumb sticks look really uncomfortable to use.
I wish my thumbs wouldn't touch each other when I use the joysticks sometimes
There were rumors awhile ago that the controller would be a dualshock but with a touchpad in the middle very similar to the back of the Vita, I guess that was true.
I was hoping they'd just reuse the PS3 controller. Oh well hopefully it'll be comfortable like all other Sony controllers.

At least it's not
Looks a bit homosexual.
left thumbstick still in a terrible place
I like it that way its much better for fighting games
Besides the problems everyone seems to be having with the analog sticks and d-pad and plastic (it's a fucking prototype you idiots jesus christ) that touchpad looks really out of place. Like, grab a Dualshock or any sort of controller like that and try to operate a "touchpad" that's somewhere around that. It's really fucking uncomfortable. Wish they'd have put it on the back of it, like they did with the Vita. I have plenty of fingers doing nothing back there and I feel like that would be a pretty useful addition.
I actually think it looks really cool.
All you saying that changing it is stupid, you do realize it's EXACTLY THE SAME LAYOUT with the middle part changed. Looks like it will feel just like the normal dual shock.
except heavier.
except heavier.
As long as i'm not having to strain to pick it up (unlikely) then i'm good. 360 controller has some weight to it and it feels a helluva lot better than the PS3 controller which is much much lighter.
360 controller feels a helluva lot better than the PS3 controller
no
no
Shoulda clarified. Weightwise I mean. 360 controller outclasses PS3 controller in triggers and weight IMO. You add those two things to the PS3 controller and it goes god tier mode.
Reminds me of this photo around 2007-08.

It really strains the wrists when you use it for extended periods. No such trouble with a PS3 controller.

Personally i like it. though i liked the DS3 also.
