I always found it funny how people think they're superior by using a different brand product.
Companies don't care about you as a person, so why do you care so much about them for taking your money? If samsung could, they would overprice their phones just as much as apple, if not more. The thing is, they can't or they will lose on sales.

It's incredibly hypocritical to throw out a statement like that when you are under Vista.
Since Apple isn't actually changing the iPhone...
I hope that's just a really bad joke.

You're under win7, you must be the brains around here.
It's incredibly hypocritical to throw out a statement like that when you are under Vista.
A) the vista problems have been loooong since fixed so it's not that bad
B) maybe he got a laptop and had no choice in the matter because vista was the latest OS at the time?

I meant that more along the lines of those kinds of stupid people who waste their money on a newly released installment of something that actually doesn't offer anything new, except for maybe a few minor things. Or

Like Call of Duty fans, basically. I didn't mean to come off as one of those "POPULAR = TERRIBLE" hipster types.

yeah yeah got it
they're wasting money on the wrong thing!
those stupid people, why would they waste money on *consumer product A*, when instead they can buy *consumer product B* which isn't a waste of money because:

no you're not a hipster, hipsters understand irony lol

Difference between spending £400-500 every year for the same product to spending £30-40.
This article is really vague.
A) the vista problems have been loooong since fixed so it's not that bad
The only case where Vista is acceptable among Facepunchers is when Apple is involved. It's silly.
Difference between spending £400-500 every year for the same product to spending £30-40.
They got the money, they can spend it on whatever they want. Since when did your spendings of your spare money define your intelligence? Spending is good, it keeps economy alive.
If someone spends money on a new phone every year, they probably think they're getting money's worth so what's the problem? If you think it's not worth it, don't buy it. Just because someone else thinks it is does not somehow lower them on the smartness pedestal.
Look, people with money spending it on something they want, these pathetic losers. Meanwhile half of fp buys a new generation of videocard even if they gain no performance increase in current games.
Your opinion < my opinion is what you're saying here.
Yearly iterations happen in a lot of industries, both hardware and software. They do not offer new revolutionary tech but rather upgrades or additions. If you think they are not good, wait a year or two and get that model then.
What is with internet trying to manage everyone's spendings?

They're definitely not spending it on being useful charity wise, doesn't sound very smart to me!
"Meanwhile half of fp buys a new generation of videocard even if they gain no performance increase in current games."
rofl um no actually
most of Fp would wait 3-6 years and buy a gpu that actually work better
unlike Apple GPU's actually advance in power.
that plus apples selling something average as if it were better than sliced bread. Apple isn't the future, it isn't revolutionary, it isn't "the next big thing", it's using the shallowness and ignorance in people to get a better edge, and basically and literally patent trolling.
They're definitely not spending it on being useful charity wise
that's not how we determine how smart someone is
They're definitely not spending it on being useful charity wise, doesn't sound very smart to me!
Who said every spendings had to be useful? There's a thing called self-enjoyment.
that's not how we determine how smart someone is
Not specifically, but in a business level charity makes you look insanely good.
Who said every spendings had to be useful? There's a thing called self-enjoyment.
how the fuck do you spend millions or billions of billions of dollars on just "self enjoyment"
dude, you're talking out of your feet. That makes literally no sense considering they're selling a product to and cost this much, they could use this money for useful things like giving the poor free, useful shit, and they're just keeping all of it. Yeah, enjoy yourself, but how do you enjoy yourself with THAT much money and still not be able to donate a penny? Unless you... are greedy! Of course.

I don't, I spend $500 once a year on a new device. (note I actually don't, but that doesn't matter)
There's a lot of people on this planet, many can afford to buy themselves something they desire. Your intelligence does not degrade when you please your desires by exchanging currency for goods.
If you're talking about business, welcome to capitalistic world. It is encouraged to be greedy. Can't blame a single company for how the entire system works.

that doesn't even make any sense
he said the "masses" were dumb for buying an iphone
that's a really petty and childish thing to say, it says more about the person saying it than the masses
people buy an iPhone or Call of Duty because they enjoy it, you're not smarter simply because you choose *Smartphone B* over *Smartphone A* or *Shootgame B* over *Shootgame A*. all you do by implying it is embarrassing everyone while instantly announcing yourself as the type of horrible person who actually cares about this sort of thing.
i'm sorry guys but no-one cares about your non-expert opinion of the masses, it's really just embarrassing to read and you should know that plenty of people will copy-and-paste your words while snickering about how pathetic it is.

Wow they added a feature, that is probably the one and only feature for iOS6.
Windows8 added ribbon menu to explorer, I guess win8 didn't add anything new then.

oh, I'm talking totally about apple here
to be honest though it doesn't matter what phone you use, so long as you don't turn into some apple-loony by not looking into alternatives. same with buying tuna, don't JUST by a specific brand, actually think about other brands.

I spend money on macro keyboards and mice and looking for a 1600-1700$ custom computer (which would actually save me a lot of money), but after that I'm basically totally set for buying though. I haven't even upgraded from my original Motorola Android. The computer stuff however for me is pretty useful to have.
i mean for fucks sake the thread about the abused Foxconn workers died out after like 8 posts
where are your priorities, people

What's your point? Should've donated all that money to charity instead.
What's your point? Should've donated all that money to charity instead.
the charity part I was talking about towards apple, actually. In reality I have shit for money too.
I agreed with you on spending things.
Goldman Sachs was one of the most charitable companies in America, yet they practically played a hand in destroying the world economy.
i don't know why charity is even relevant
Microsoft licences its patents to Android OEM's, the more Android devices sold, the more money Microsoft get. They probably make far more from licensing patents than they do from WP.
I didn't in any way dispute that, but why would we want Microsoft to earn more money than they do already? That just means that we're buying something at a higher price than needs be.
That's incredibly sad.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT MAN, THIS IS THE MOST INNOVATIVE THING SINCE WINDOWS 98
TAKE ALL MY FUCKING MONEY
Wait, let's all be clear that the iPhone had the exact same price as any other smartphone.
I could get an iPhone 4S for 199$ on contract, just like I could get a Galaxy S III or HTC One X or Blackberry.
The only cheaper high end phone is the Lumia 900 at 99 $.
[editline]8th September 2012[/editline]
So for the purpose of any debate about Apple's phones, one can't play the "Overpriced" card like one would easily be able to for tablets or computers.
Depends on whether it's a high end phone or not.
All high end phones are priced within the same range, with mid range phones and low end phones being much less expensive.
My argument is that the iPhone is usually priced around the same as other high end phones.
Plus the iPhone 4 and 3GS are still on sale, and are priced as mid range and low end phones.
