They can make money selling you the same thing repeatedly, or sell you an expensive cure over a prolonged period of time and then sell you preventative treatments in addition to treatments for everything else you'll now live to get.

Don't be dense, that's like arguing hospitals wouldn't surgically remove tumors because they'd make more money off chemo.
