• Harriet Tubman to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill

I'd still prefer an alternative where Tubman gets on the bill but Jackson also stays. There's plenty of real estate on a bill to have two people. The back could have a portrait of Jackson over the White House while Tubman gets the front.
She didn't shoot anybody Jackson shot a lot of people
you say this like its a joke

Jackson bills will still be in circulation, so don't expect to never see them again
I fail to see the issue with this.
I wonder how many nutcases are going to forego using the 20 doller just because it has a black lady on it
If we're going to be changing the bills, can we just go all in and switch to polymer?

We'll probably end up changing a lot of currency after enough time, considering our country is still fairly young.
Im fine with this. I thought they were going to put some lame ass woman that had no effect on anything on the $20.
200 years old babby
Once we're old as hell like England I doubt we'll still have our founders on our currency. We might just end up putting the current president on everything once we've got over a thousand years of notable figures
It should be Madam C. J. Walker. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madam_C._J._Walker
It should be Tubman fighting Jackson in the Kumite.
Eisenhower or MLK would be good due to actually doing significant shit. This is just a PC movement to get a black woman on the $20 for the hell of it.
Eisenhower or MLK would be good due to actually doing significant shit. One of the best runners in the Underground Railroad, spied for the Union during the Civil War, also hardcore as Hell.
Tubman was pretty significant. One of the best runners in the Underground Railroad, spied for the Union during the Civil War, also hardcore as Hell.
In comparison to Eisenhower or MLK?
In comparison to Eisenhower or MLK?
She was very much up there, albeit not the best choice overall. But I mean come on, the USA will eventually have 300 years of its well documented history soon. That's a lot of popular historical figures and heroes to choose from and naturally it won't always be the best option(as evidenced by Jackson being on the $20 bill). ...now I'd say, ideally, implementing a $2 , a $500, and a $1000 bank note into the system would be able to cover Teddy/FDR, MLK, Eisenhower, or whoever you'd really like, but I have a feeling that Americans aren't too keen on changing the current configuration.
In comparison to Eisenhower or MLK?
Tubman consistently risked her life to end an inherently undemocratic system and a massive blemish on American history. The information she received while spying during the Civil War helped keep the country together. I'd say she's pretty fucking important.
Eisenhower or MLK would be good due to actually doing significant shit. I'm stunned how you could say MLK despite Tubman being in the same league. Do you even know what Harriet Tubman did? If getting somebody important on money compared to a crazed asshole is part of the PC movement boogie man, I have no problem with that. P.S: Fuck Jackson.
Eisenhower or MLK would be good due to actually doing significant shit. This is just a PC movement to get a black woman on the $20 for the hell of it.
do you literally not know who harriet tubman is

But there lots of people who did those things. She's more of an image than someone who actually changed the course of the country.
She was clearly a great and respectable woman... But there lots of people who did those things. So Mozart isn't worth it anymore guys, Bach already did classical music!
She was clearly a great and respectable woman... But there lots of people who did those things. She's more of an image than someone who actually changed the course of the country.
:| Did you really just invoke "simpsons did it" over human rights? Yes there were and are many contributors, point being she is the nationally recognized figure thereof. Do you think MLK or FDR worked absolutely alone too?
She was clearly a great and respectable woman... But there lots of people who did those things. Tubman Integral part of the underground railroad and key player in the early movement for abolishing slavery. MLK Helped to get the Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed through peaceful protesting and marching. Ushered in a new era nationwide for all minorities who were being discriminated against. Comparing these two, who had a larger impact? I think MLK is the clear choice here. He may not have been through as brutal of a time as Tubman but he affected way more people and did way more to benefit the nation long term. Eisenhower Helped direct and lead war efforts to defeat Axis in WWII. Supreme Allied commander during invasion of Europe. Appointed Military Governor of the U.S. Occupation Zone in Germany after the war. Fought against the crippling economic struggles burdening post-war Germany by bringing in food and supplies to help the German people. Pushed for nuclear disarmament during the midst of the Cold War, hoping to lessen the threat of nuclear weapons. Helped create the Interstate Highway System. Helped to end the Korean War. Sponsored and signed the Civil Rights Act of 1957, allowing equal voting rights with a push for equality among all races. Balanced the budget multiple times. Brought in the national guard to help reinforce the decision to integrate schools in Little Rock. Consistently advocated for equal rights in all walks of life. The choice for Tubman is not due to overwhelming achievements, but instead due to her role as a black woman fighting against slavery. She did not have nearly the impact that the other two did.
Eisenhower or MLK would be good due to actually doing significant shit. This is just a PC movement to get a black woman on the $20 for the hell of it.
I starred this because I feel like it deserves recognition for what a fucking awful, ignorant post it is
MLK, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Marian Anderson will also appear on the back of the $5 and Sojourner Truth and Susan B. Anthony on the back of the $10
I starred this because I feel like it deserves recognition for what a fucking awful, ignorant post it is
Good contribution.
Eisenhower or MLK would be good due to actually doing significant shit. This is just a PC movement to get a black woman on the $20 for the hell of it.
Imagine thinking that every decision that you disagreed with was the result of PC culture
