I'v been on the sun(don't judge me) website and it says they are responsible for the Sony hack, is that true?
Detectives believe he is a "major player" with LulzSec, a hackers' group which claimed responsibility for the theft of 77million Sony PlayStation customers' names, addresses, bank details and passwords.

Some of the Sony hacks, yes.

But not the PSN hack?

Correct, afaik.
SO MANY BOAT EUPHEMISMS.
As I said in another thread just now, if he run their IRC servers they could be pretty fucked. The police have seized all of his computers (and I assume any servers he owns), there could very well be log files showing details about "proper" members.
Just going to quote my self to add a bit to this.
According to the sun or the BBC (can't remember) he is "keen to help with the investigation" which suggests he may be informing the police of everything he knows, which if true they could be really fucked.

I remember that they leaked 1 million usernames from the Sony Pictures website. They weren't responsible for the Sony PSN hack.

No! Really?
LulzSec just released a 50 day statement, apparently the lulz are stopping, they have put a link for a final release, and are ceasing operations.
Call me sceptic, but I doubt it.

I doubt it as well. Judging by the names of the files in the torrent, this release contains a lot of users, about 800 thousand.

Oh boy, BF:H. I wonder if my old accounts is in there.
Well fuck. I was in the Battlefield Heros Beta. Gonna download this, see if I'm in it.
Wish me luck :(
Ok, Im making a online checker. Hold right there!
Currently 20% of the import
Well, downloaded and I'm in the files... Obviously I'm not going to post it here, but it seems the passwords or whatever are incrypted since they're like "8jjb0d etc etc"
But still, I guess I'm going to spend all night changing my passwords.
Just a heads up, Avast went crazy when I unzipped the rar file.
They are hashed
Look it up on wikipedia.
Try googling the garbage to see if it is in a easy to access rainbow table.
Huh, the guy who got arrested lives 5 minutes drive from me.
Everyone in England is a 5 minute's drive from eachother :v:
So is there anyway to decode my hash without submitting it to a database? I want to know what passwords I have to change, since it was forever ago I signed up for that beta.
Saw my username in the Battlefield list but luckily it wasn't me after all.

If I remember correctly, with Cain & Able, you can type in a password to try against the hash, so you could keep typing in your passwords until you find the right one
Just google the hash, If you want to try it the other way round find a javascript MD5 hasher.
Also the on-line checking service will be up SOON
Are there any online checkers so I can check for my email?

Benjojo is working on one as we speak, and if you look at the post above yours, then he says it will be up soon.
-Post cleaned up below-
My information was in the Battlefield leak. Should I change all passwords that relate to the email I used for that or what?
