I'm crying, we are gonna be rich. I have to email Hollande and demand a refund
It's funny how people think this is about Holland.
Anyway, keep in mind that this is on earnings over a million EUROS. So depending on how badly Europe is doing right now, that is up to a million and a half dollars.
This barely affects anyone in France.
I hope all that money goes towards some nice things for everyone. :allears:
We will have to wait a number of years before the outcome of this starts to show.
For now it's dangerous to blurb out everyones indoctrinated views on how this will affect France's economy, better wait and see.
because i'm an asshole
i want to earn money FOR MYSELF (how dare i!!!)
If you do not like taxes, move to Somalia.
Taxation is life. People who complain about the concept of taxation do not understand how the world functions.

My prediction: The economy will not change at all from this. Even if the worst case scenario happens, which is that some rich people move out of France
Why should someone who works for there money have to pay 75% in taxes, even if it's after the first million. Why do they deserve only 25% of any additional assets. Sure a million is enough for people like you and me but they live an expensive life style. If anything big companies would leave to another country with lower taxes.

i'm fine with taxation, but i'm not fine with pretty much being punished for doing well, like this is suggesting
i'm fine with taxation, but i'm not fine with pretty much being punished for doing well, like this is suggesting
If you earn €1,000,000, you'll still have 25% left, which is €250,000. You're basically complaining that you will not be able to afford two yatchs this year.
i'm fine with taxation, but i'm not fine with pretty much being punished for doing well, like this is suggesting
On the other hand their success was guaranteed by the government and the hard working people.
I mean point me out to a single laborer, teacher, doctor or a scientist that makes anywhere near a million Euros each year.
People with that kind of money have swiss bank accounts and foreign registered companies and such to dodge taxes anyway. That isn't going to change, they're just going to save even more money by not paying.

well yeah that's a bad thing
that's two yachts that the yacht industry can't sell
where do you think the money goes when rich people spend it?

and?
if i want to live a life of luxury, if i can afford it after fairly earning a lot of money, why shouldn't i be able to buy two yachts?
because i don't need them? that's a bullshit reason.
i don't see why should a person limit themselves to just what they need to have.
it's that desire to have more that drives people, actually creates those millionaires.

none because their labor isn't fucking worth a million euros
well yeah that's a bad thing

Oh no.
How awful.
I shed 5 solitary tears for the yacht industry.
and?

You're agument basically boils down to "fuck the poor, I want to be rich."

how about the ex-workers of the yacht industry who were laid off because the company couldn't afford to keep production at that level because less people could afford yachts?

that's why everybody already pays taxes
stop acting like every millionaire pays no taxes at all - not everybody who is rich is a thief.

this isn't just about your average millionaires, an overwhelming majority of people in the hundred-million to billion category avoid tax; whether they know they're stealing or not. they have 24/7 lawyer teams that ensure this
Wait, so I'm a bit puzzled. They are taxed regularly for their first amount under 1 mil, but the portion that exceeds 1 mil is taxed heavily? That would make a bit more sense to me. However, that is extremely high, regardless.

and then those who work to avoid tax will still avoid it, and you'll end up punishing those who actually play fair
good job

If the workers who make radios go out of buisness because people stop buying radios, should we buy radios out of pity? No; if something is no longer required, then we should not be expected to buy it.
If a yacht is something that cannot be bought by many, but a select few, then either they're too expensive or not really needed.
and then those who work to avoid tax will still avoid it, and you'll end up punishing those who actually play fair

would you rather no action be taken than hollande try to close the gap?
and i would hardly call it a 'punishment' lol
would you rather no action be taken than hollande try to close the gap?
perhaps they should go after those who play unfairly, instead of going after everybody?
this isn't just about your average millionaires, an overwhelming majority of people in the hundred-million to billion category avoid tax; whether they know they're stealing or not. they have 24/7 lawyer teams that ensure this
but this is average millionaires. that's why the bracket is at the million euro mark.
if it was about the hundred-million to billion category, then it would begin that that level
there are a lot more millionaires than billionaires, and while it is the billionaires that control most of the wealth, this measure isn't about them. a simple tax hike like this won't bother them and it's not intended to, because billionaires have lawyers that spend their entire careers looking for loopholes. this is about the low-to-mid tier millionaires who earn a lot of money but don't have the resources to practice large-scale tax avoidance
For educational purposes, I calculated what amount of money a frenchman has left if this goes thru.
When a frenchmen(and his wife, this calculation was made for a 2 adult no kids home) makes 2 million euro's a year. After taxes that becomes 865.589

Bill Gates and Warren Buffet disagree.
Yes Bill Gates and Warren Buffet disagree.
Two two richest people in the world are speaking for people who have just 1 million.
They nearly have 65 BILLION dollars. The procentual difference in their wealth is larger than you and the local hobo.
A normal person who is a millionaire by hard work is not going to agree giving up 75%.
Fuck that, I wouldn't either. I'm quitting university and gonna lie down on my ass 75% of the year as well. You'd have the same net income.
and i would hardly call it a 'punishment' lol
if i work my ass off to get something, be it a yacht, or something else, and then suddenly i can't get it 'because i don't actually need it', i'm being punished.
If the workers who make radios go out of buisness because people stop buying radios, should we buy radios out of pity? No; if something is no longer required, then we should not be expected to buy it.
pity has absolutely nothing to do with this. it's not about creating demand where it wasn't previously, it's about removing demand that is already there.
If a yacht is something that cannot be bought by many, but a select few, then either they're too expensive or not really needed.
please look up the difference between wants and needs.
and then those who work to avoid tax will still avoid it, and you'll end up punishing those who actually play fair

And your answer to tax evasion are lower taxes?
And your answer to tax evasion are lower taxes?
my answer for tax evasion is punishing those who actually evade taxes, not those who don't

No, the first million is taxed at the normal rate.
1 million = 1 million
2 million = 1.25 million
