It sunk two feet if I remember correctly.(parts did at least) Massive plate shifts can really fuck shit up. You have to remember that what causes these are continent size chucks of rock sliding under one another. When one gets caught up on the other, somethings got to give, and when it does it shakes the place up. Tsunamis are made because the ocean topography literally collapses (or pushes up) and causes the surface to collapse(or get pushed up) into it causing the huge ripple effect.
