Glasses = Harry Potter. It doesn't matter what you look like.
back when MSN was still relevant I used to have a picture of john lennon in his mid 40s as my avatar. the amount of times I received some variation of ''why is your picture harry potter'' is astounding.
Good point, but if there's a bully that constantly pursues you no matter what, then... well, I don't know. If you hurt them it'll get worse, if you try to cope with him it'll either get worse or you might make a friend, but being friends with a bully doesn't end well that often, and if you do something like this, then the bully or even the inmates at the jail or prison or whatever he's at won't be the worst. If you do this to a person, you'll eventually start to hate yourself. Call me a cynic, but it's a shitty world we live in.
Well yeah, often you can't do anything about the bullying that won't make it worse. That's why I said we should be trying to stop it, not encouraging it to be ignored.
But... why didn't he just use the Avader-Kadavera curse?
It's an Unforgivable Curse, bro, weren't you paying attention in Defense Against the Dark Arts?
But... why didn't he just use the Avader-Kadavera curse?
Because that only works for Dyslexic Wizards.
Yes I understand he was bullied but there is absolutely no excuse for stabbing someone. Stabbing somebody is a really personal way to go about assault. This guy deserves the jail time but I also think he needs to go somewhere to talk about his issues asap

That's why I said we should be trying to stop it, not encouraging it to be ignored.
My point is that it can't be stopped. It kinda goes along with a very exaggerated survival-of-the-fittest mentality, where some kids think that if they prove their dominance they'll be the best or get respect or some shit like that. Or maybe the bully just has some pent up rage caused by problems at home, and he can be fixed, but I guarantee you he'll just become another victim. Humans, especially kids, aren't really known for their pacifism. I wish it wasn't like that, but, again, what can we do?

Schools seem to think kids who are being bullied are going to tell them, which is almost never the case since telling anyone makes it worse for most kids. If someone doesn't directly tell any teachers from what I used to see the teachers couldn't give a flying fuck unless the bully is literally beating the shit out of you.
A lot of people are implying that him stabbing the girl was a rational, well thought-out decision. We're sitting behind our desks, stating that "he shouldn't have stabbed the girl, too far man, too far". I'm sure he knows that now, dickheads, and he knew it when he turned himself in to the police. But no matter how you spin it, he wasn't acting rationally when he snapped. I mean, the article doesn't say that he ever did such a thing before. So we can assume that this was the first time he snapped, and he turned himself in right after, he's not a god damn psychopath, he's just someone pushed over the edge. Who knows how long this had been going on for? Who knows if "harry potter" was the worst thing they called him?

Most people are saying they understand he snapped from the bullying, but I can't find anyone saying they consider it rational. Infact apart from your post, 'rational' is mentioned once in the thread. And that is saying that he wasn't acting rationally.

He does need some serious help, but because he was bullied to this point.

Both of those imply the exact opposite of rational thinking. The first saying that stabbing is wrong but he did it anyway, which would imply he wasn't rationally thinking it was the wrong choice, and the second is pretty obviously saying he has issues clouding his judgement. I don't see how that implies "He was thinking rationally."
When I went to Portland from Canada a couple months ago the damn US customs agent said I looked like Harry Potter, then another agent showed up and said the same thing. Almost everyone I meet calls me Harry Potter. If I'm lucky I get told I look like John Lennon. I'm fucking nearly 25 years old and it's been a thing ever since I grew my hair out around 10 years ago and it doesn't help I wear glasses and have a very similar face shape. If you got longish brown hair and wear glasses it's almost guaranteed that someone will say you look like Harry Potter.
Wear contacts, problem solved. Glasses are obsolete in my world.
wear white contacts, too, so you'll scare the bullies away too.
Wear contacts, problem solved. Glasses are obsolete in my world.
I wear "breathing" contacts that doesn't dry the eye as fast and allows me to wear them at night, so I take out my contacts once a month and aside from that it's like I never had any problem with my eyesight at all

If they existed why wasn't it suggested for me when I just got them a month ago.
My boyfriend's nickname in school was Harry Potter, and he didn't have a problem with it at all :v: Blimey.
My boyfriend's nickname in school was Harry Potter, and he didn't have a problem with it at all :v: Blimey.
Probably because it wasn't done in a bullying context.
sucks wearing glasses and having a scar in the head like me i'm pretty famous in some important circles in the HP club
Probably because it wasn't done in a bullying context.
yeah, i knew a guy who we called harry potter but we never gave him shit over it and if he got annoyed he'd ask us to stop (except for a while i would only remember that after i called him harry potter again so i profusely apologized every time) context changes things, even words that aren't in themselves offensive can be used to bully
back when MSN was still relevant I used to have a picture of john lennon in his mid 40s as my avatar. the amount of times I received some variation of ''why is your picture harry potter'' is astounding.

John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980)
What kind of sick photos
People sure are dwelling on the fact that he happened to get called Harry Potter and glazing over the rest.
It sucks that they got attacked but maybe they shouldn't have been dumb cunts in the first place??? [editline]13th February 2014[/editline] "My personal anecdote trumps any experience that this other person completely unrelated to me went through!"
When did facepunch start taking everything so seriously and stop understanding jokes? How could you possibly think that was a serious post.
i think the girls will heal and then apologize to harry and all of them will become friends at school
yeah but he also stabbed a girl in the face
Even though the boy over reacted, they learned a valuable lesson in the end. Mess with somebody long enough and they will eventually retaliate, possibly very violently. People need to learn well enough to leave each other the fuck alone. If thats how you get your rocks off then you need to get help.
