LA CBS news crew attacked by Trayvon Martin protestors
Remember that not all "Traybots" are violent rioters, and that the majority of protesters are peaceful protesters.
There are always assholes who will exploit a situation and use it for their own violent ends.
The fact that you posted this, and then these two posts appeared,
Is pretty sad and just goes to show how racially insensitive/moronic some of Facepunch's posters are here.
I'm sorry, but to be brutally honest I thought the same thing too, just reworded to be more racially sensitive. They're not doing the black community any justice at all. In fact, I immediately thought of this video right after.

And I'm not saying all Martin protestors are like this either. Just the ones that go out and throw a shitfest because they disagreed with the verdict, like the zombies in the video did.
Oh my god the fucking comments

Well this truly is a brilliant, absolutely brilliant way to fill out a stereotype.
I don't think its racist to call people who look like they're miming apes "apes". These fucking people look like apes jumping on cars, pulling shit off of walls, running around like idiots.
Look past skin color and pretense to what is actually being said and what these people are actually behaving like.
I get what he was attempting to do: lampooning the recent Zimmerman related threads were discussions of racially insensitive language is being used. It fundamentally fails though because no one has ever suggested that zombie was a racially insensitive word.
If you want to make fun of people analyzing and criticizing the words we use that's your prerogative, but with blatantly terrible posts like these
So his parody would only make sense if they used a "racially insensitive word"? The words being "discussed" were words such as 'thug' and 'savage'. These words may be used with racial charge but they were not in those cases. Any sense of racism was squeezed out by people trying to find racism where in reality none existed. Carnage was making fun of these upstanding, morally-righteous, politically correct posters. 'Zombie' works perfectly fine for this criticism because nobody ever suggested it was racially insensitive.

"get a more creative dirt bike," what the fuck does that even mean? Is that a racial slur I haven't heard yet or what?

What stereotype?

You can maybe pull that card with savage or thug but calling riot footage of black people "planet of the apes" is blatantly racist. The word ape has been and continues to be used as a racial pejorative for centuries. At the very least it's a poor choice of words.
Why do people riot about a court case that's already been settled when there are things like the NSA or foreign affairs to take to the streets for?

No it isn't. If someone looks like an ape, they look like an ape. It's propagating racist name calling by continuing to associate calling someone an ape with being black.
"get a more creative dirt bike," what the fuck does that even mean? Is that a racial slur I haven't heard yet or what?
I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the comments.

Dude have you fucking seen rise of the planet of the apes. It's fucking 1:1 with this. A bunch of people jumping on cars, pulling people out, beating on anything they see.

Eh...I dunno. 'Savage' and 'Uncivilized' definitely aren't racist and I'll stand by that, but I've never heard someone called an ape (that wasn't Tarzan or some shit) without some kind of racial undertone to it. I wouldn't say it's specifically racist, but it's right on the edge.
Still, I don't think the people in this thread here are intentionally being racist by saying it, so maybe that's just my own experience making an issue where there shouldn't be one.
Why do people riot about a court case that's already been settled when there are things like the NSA or foreign affairs to take to the streets for?
Because at the end of the day, nobody is interested in actually getting any good done.
Those people need to get the fuck over it.
what a bunch of APE-LIKE THUGS
And besides, it's absurd to call black people apes. Apes have one inch penises.

Jesus, you have become the worst poster I have seen in recent time all in one day.

The queen won't let him play music for her today. He's down on his spirits.

Right, because thats how FP operates. Any time there is a serious discussion about the language we use it's just too much political correctness, and critical analysis of language isn't really analysis, it's just looking for racism. The reason his "parody" fails is because no one would look for racism in the word zombie. If he had quoted a word that could almost be construed as racist it would have been more effective. What it comes out as as a defense mechanism from someone who is afraid of a slippery slope where if we continue talking about the racial insensitivity of words like thug, savage, and ape when referring to black people that one day someone will suggest that zombie is racially insensitive.
But instead of looking at his post critically we just throw funnies at him because haha he made a swipe at those politically correct guys in another thread.
so...like 5-6 posts comparing black people to apes...
do people still think that race has nothing to do with this issue?
No it isn't. If someone looks like an ape, they look like an ape. It's propagating racist name calling by continuing to associate calling someone an ape with being black.
What? How am I possibly propagating racist name calling by pointing out the things that other people say have been used by racists for hundreds of years as a pejorative against a certain race? What kind of insane mental gymnastics do you have to pull to pin the racism charge on me? Where at all did I associate calling someone an ape with them being black? Who is being associate, the person being called an ape, or the person calling someone else an ape? This post makes no sense.
well when they're jumping around on top of cars, dancing on them ( white guy, but he was acting like one too), and basically acting like they just escaped from the zoo then odds are there's gonna be a few people that will describe them as being like an ape.
Let's play spot the white guy.

To be honest, Facepunch in general just doesn't seem to be good when it comes to controversial issues. Overall I think this is a fairly intelligent community with a nicely varied set of viewpoints, but when a debate starts it just devolves into shit-flinging more often than not (see: these threads) because some people don't seem to understand how to present an argument in a strong, yet civil way.

By continuing to associate the word Ape with black people you are indeed continuing the idea that a black person can be called an ape. Get over that notion! An ape is obviously not a black person. An ape is an animal and these people (regardless of their skin color) are behaving similarly to an animal.
"Uncivilized" and "savage" may not be racist but using "ape" do describe somebody has always been racist, at least where I come from.
So when Hammond calls Clarkson an ape, it's racist?
so...like 5-6 posts comparing black people to apes...

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here and say that those posters weren't saying that they were like apes because of their skin color, but rather that they were like apes due to their behavior. Seems trivial, but it's an important distinction.
so...like 5-6 posts comparing black people to apes...

Race was never an issue with the case. The media riled people into thinking it was one, and this is the result.
