Pirates 3 does have the best trailer, though.
Too bad the movie was an overlong, boring piece of shit.
The only good thing about this movie was the pirate meeting scene, especially when Keith Richards showed up to play Jack's dad: Too bad none of the rest of these pirates actually fought when it came to the ending battle, such wasted time with introducing them.
I think you guys are just jumping on the bandwagon at this point when it comes to the third movie. But the 5th movie will be an absolute disaster.
i've always hated hollywood's franchise milking, but i was fine with the pirates of the caribbean sequels, they've always been pretty fun and enjoyable even if they're not that great. that is, until the 4th one came out; that was shit
I just hope we get more Barbossa. His part in Dead Man's Chest is the best ending scene to any film ever in my opinion.
I am legitimately surprised we never got a young Jack cartoon. Tron Legacy and Star Wars got cartoon prequels.
They actually had a series of books out that was all about young Jack Sparrow and his adventures and it was pretty solid, so they could easily do a movie about it. I think seeing a series of cartoons or movies about how he got all of these enemies and his reputation would be more interesting than seeing him fight them.
When are we gonna get a gritty reboot?
I think Pirates would work better as a TV show now
I just hope we get more Barbossa. His part in Dead Man's Chest is the best ending scene to any film ever in my opinion.
barbossa is the best thing in the franchise
I enjoyed all 3 and the fourth was decent imo but idk if they can really pull off the charm of the first one ever again. I mean, Black Pearl was literally a fucking masterpiece of cinematography, and I'm not even into pirates really
Probably should have stopped after the first one tbh
imo all of them have some pretty great moments
The 4th one had like 8 different plots going on and 5 different groups trying to beat every other group. And every time there was a fight scene, a bunch of dudes would die, and they weren't anyone important, so in the next fight scene, there would be the exact amount of dudes there were before a bunch died.
Didn't realise the first film came out so long ago
How many nemesis's does Jack Sparrow even have at this point?
-insert pirate joke- Anybody else notice though that like all these important ancient mystical items are somehow all located in the carribien and unguarded. Like Cuba would control the entire god damn world if they actually looked around their backyard
Naturally as a member of Facepunch I am overly pessimistic and hate everything that I or anyone else ever liked
I think you guys are just jumping on the bandwagon at this point when it comes to the third movie. But the 5th movie will be an absolute disaster.
I'm actually kinda relieved to see other people didn't like the third movie. Most people I've talked to liked it unlike myself. On the fifth movie part I do agree with you. I'm not really digging the synopsis of it so far, we'll just have to wait and see.
Naturally as a member of Facepunch I am overly pessimistic and hate everything that I or anyone else ever liked
I genuinely like the first movie, it's funny and stuff happens. The 2nd and 3rd were good as well, though they don't stand out - they're just more of the same, basically. The 4th movie just wasn't good. The 5th might be good? But honestly, I don't think it will be. The first 3 tied into each other, and the 4th partly sucked because it needed to introduce some new characters, but it also wanted to show crazy Jack Sparrow antics for 100% of the runtime. Like, I just watched the first 15 minutes of the 4th one to be sure (haven't seen it since it came out), and the escape sequence is still going. It ends 21 minutes in, and the first character of some significance (I think) is introduced 17 minutes in. In the the very first scene we see the Spanish whatever, but other than that we haven't been introduced to someone we don't already know, and he's only there to introduce the fountain of youth really. Meanwhile, in the first 6 minutes of the original, we're introduced to all the main characters, save Barbossa. I can't really compare it to the 2nd and 3rd, but when we're introduced to a completely new setting in the 4th, it's pretty important to establish new characters.
Even though the later movies were pretty mediocre, I still liked them. It'd be pretty cool imo if Will shows up in the 5th one
Great, Johnny Depp hasn't made a bad movie since his last one.
third one sucked but you cant deny the set piece battle at the end was phenomenal and almost worth the boring two hours that preceded it
Enjoyed every movie, though the fourth one definitely was the worst, hoping they learned from their mistakes and make a good fifth movie, I'm always up for more Jack Sparrow.
I really enjoyed the second movie thanks to Davy Jones anf the Kraken. I really hated it when the Kraken didn't show up (alive) in the third because it actually felt like a really big threat. Combine that with the amazing theme it had (<3 organs), it really made me enjoy the movie more that if it would've been left out.
I think PotC didn't need a sequel. Maybe a sequel that wasn't bad and actually fit the universe set by the first film could've worked but I'm not convinced. A prequel would've been a better idea imo, set when Jack Sparrow was [sp]captain of the Black Pearl[/sp].
I love all the films, really. And the music, damn. Guy plays the Davy Jones theme on a church organ. It's fucking beast.
Didn't the last one end with this:
Jack finds Gibbs, who has used his compass to locate the shrunken Black Pearl in a bottled collection of ships imprisoned by Blackbeard. Hoping to find a way to revert the Black Pearl to its original size, the two head off into the sunset, determined to continue their pirate life.
So why is this ignored in the plot summary? I was hoping that the next movie would deal with them reverting the black pearl.
While Curse is a solid 9/10 for me, the rest hover around the 7 - 8 mark with 4 being the absolute lowest. I love Jack, Barbossa, Davy Jones, the Dutchman and it's crew design, the music is great throughout, the East India Trading Company as the big bad was a neat idea and the major set pieces never cease to entertain. But it's the overall package which ultimately pulls the other 3 films down. I don't have high hopes for 5 but i know that capn jack sparrah will sell the role to me yet again regardless.
third one sucked but you cant deny the set piece battle at the end was phenomenal and almost worth the boring two hours that preceded it
Countered by Davy Jones' and Jacks fight being ten seconds of awesome shit (swordfighting on the mast) and then devolving into slapstick for the rest of it. There was SO MUCH going for it to make the final battle awesome, but the main conflict was handled poorly.
I liked all of the movies. I like the type of fantasy setting with the spin they give it.
johnny depp sure loves money
johnny depp sure loves money
Maybe he really hates money, and he's making all of these terrible movies so people will stop trying to give it to him.
