So you say "Nowhere does my post say that", but then you go on to make it clear that it was what you were trying to imply. Make up your mind, dude.
There is no non-physical system (other than a system that would make people take road laws more seriously... hmm wat system comes to mind??) possible to prevent injury or death in a car incident sorry to make this evident to you.
It means poor people are poor because somewhere along their family line, a parent WAS lazy.
sucks yeah but it's reality. And with a enough effort you can break that cycle of not being able to meet your needs. I know this because it is done all the time by people with enthusiasm. Every creature has to work to live. If you don't want to hunt or forage, then contribute to society in such a way that society has no other choice but to return the favor, allowing you to be free of the food chain like the rest of us. For example. A lot of poor people complain that there are no jobs. Bullshit! There is always something to be done, make a job, dont wait for a company to tell you what your choices are to make a living.
Are you AndyUK now? This level of "BOOTSTRAPS BOOTSTRAPS" sounds like him.
do you people even realize what this means
25 years is the most time anybody who expresses regret should ever get for any crime short of pre-planned multiple homicides. You are a different person than the one who committed the crime after that long.
Oh Cameron you stupid populist idiot
people usually have to breach human rights to do the crime that causes them to get life in prison.
and imho breaching another persons right as a human being completely voids your own.

if the whole world used my system there would be no need to have soldiers or wars
HOW
May be a terrible idea. But that's what people do, come up with ideas. The police are here to serve and protect the innocent, why have them waste resources to serve and protect delinquents?
Oh fuckoff Cameron, stop trying to turn us into murica.
stupid fucking idea
everyone voting the OP winner (in the mentality of life-for-a-life) should be ashamed
The last thing the UK wants to do is emulate any aspect of the US prison system.
Actual life sentences should be used sparingly. Even with something as seemingly atrocious as murder, there isn't always the malice present to warrant shoving the person in a cage for the rest of their lives.
If you've ever punched someone in or around the face, you could potentially have become a murderer.
What's the point?
If somebody isn't turned off by 40 years, 60 years until they die won't turn them off either, and I don't think that the recidive in murderers sentenced for decades is high. It won't decrease the amount of crime, just fill the prisons more at expense of everyone.
I still don't see the point of life sentences. If you want to get rid of somebody forever then killing them is a lot cheaper.
I'm not arguing the morality of either life or death sentences, just one seems exceptionally pointless.
wouldn't "prison until you die" make more sense? I mean it's entirely possible for someone to live out 100 years of prison and if that happened it wouldn't be so "life means life."
With that wording if you have a heart attack and they revive you they must release you :P
for those who dont know (I know this isnt about the US, but some general knowledge) -- In the US "life" is only 40 years unless you're in a federal prison. Then life means life.

But it's functionally the same. If you get 40 years when you're young the prime years of your life are over and if you're old then you're probably gonna die anyway. This move is just a feelgood appeal to people who have a hardon for punishment.
