But without our assault weapons, how will we fend off burglars? [editline]...[/editline] :downs:
The original purpose of our second amendment right is to be able to fight the government if needed in case of a revolution. We MUST keep our right to assault weapons.
geeze louise guy you have no idea what I'm talking about do you
Enlighten me
You're retarded, they designed the US to be a republic
This can't be a serious response.
This can't be a serious response.
The US is and always was a republic.
yea, but back then they didn't have a way to call the cops if someone robbed you. [editline]01:42AM[/editline] You're retarded, they designed the US to be a republic
so if a man is trying to clean out your house you would calmly call the cops and wait 7-10 minutes for them to show up. good luck with that. they also designed the US to be a government that wouldn't go corrupt for a long time. they gave us the second amendment in the event this ever happens.
Enlighten me
A republic, as IN a state ruled by THE PEOPLE who must be kept substantially more powerful than the elected government at the same time.
The US is and always was a republic.
In no way does the idea of a republic and a libertarian society free of aristocracy and title clash. In fact they kind of match-up.
A republic, as IN a state ruled by THE PEOPLE who must be kept substantially more powerful than the elected government at the same time.
That's democracy. We don't have democracy, we have a republic, where the people are subject to the rule of the LAW aka: the constitution. We have a republic with democratic principles. [editline]01:46AM[/editline]
In no way does the idea of a republic and a libertarian society free of aristocracy and title clash. In fact they kind of match-up.
Libertarianism: As much freedom as possible even if it means abolishing to government.
That's democracy. We don't have democracy, we have a republic, where the people are subject to the rule of the LAW aka: the constitution. We have a republic with democratic principles.
a republic is still run by the PEOPLE. we just elect people to vote on our behalf. it's still in the people's control.
The original purpose of our second amendment right is to be able to fight the government if needed in case of a revolution. We MUST keep our right to assault weapons.
You're right nick nack. However we live in an age of cowardice and fear. Lust of false promises of security and laws to hide behind. Franklin once said, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." If they truly wish to be ruled by their government which they have little or no say in, be my guest. It only makes my job easier as a dictator.
a republic is still run by the PEOPLE. we just elect people to vote on our behalf. it's still in the people's control.
It's the people in control but the people are subject to the rule of LAW. Aka: the CONSTI-FUCKIN-TUTION. We are not a democracy. Watch this: http://www.wimp.com/thegovernment/

Watch this: http://www.wimp.com/thegovernment/
the constitution can be amended, like any other law. i never said we were a democracy you tool.
Libertarianism: As much freedom as possible even if it means abolishing to government.
Libertarianism has a much wider spectrum than just anarchism. And yeah, dontchu' think the Founding Fathers intended for as much freedom as possible? And yeah, dontchu' think the Founding Fathers intended that we have small government?
Libertarianism has a much wider spectrum than just anarchism. And yeah, dontchu' think the Founding Fathers intended for as much freedom as possible? And yeah, dontchu' think the Founding Fathers intended that we have small government?
Seeing as how they lived in an era of near total autocracy and were some of the greatest men of the enlightenment age I would say that they would agree with those statements.
Libertarianism has a much wider spectrum than just anarchism. And yeah, dontchu' think the Founding Fathers intended for as much freedom as possible? And yeah, dontchu' think the Founding Fathers intended that we have small government?
No, they intended that the government NOT fuck the people, and that the government work in the interest of the people. [editline]01:58AM[/editline] http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html Ctrl+F: Democracy. You'll notice it doesn't appear. Not once
what the hell are you talking about you fat hairy salami
what the hell are you talking about you fat hairy salami
You said we were a democracy. We're not. edit: No, you said something even worse, you said we were supposed to be libertarians!
No, they intended that the government NOT fuck the people, and that the government work in the interest of the people.
What? Do you know your founding fathers? Do you realize how anti-guvment they are? "The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground." – Thomas Jefferson "Government at its best is a necessary evil, and at its worst, an intolerant one." – Thomas Paine "Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." – George Washington
SL:DKJF:LSKDJF:LKSDJF:LKSDJFK:LJ DO I HAVE TO FUCKING SAY THIS IN EVERY SINGLE THREAD ASSAULT WEAPON =/= ASSAULT RIFLE God FUCKING dammit.
so now you want to argue semantics? technically all weapons are assault weapons. why do you think they call it assault with a deadly weapon? and aren't you 13? what is a 13 year old doing with "assault" weapons?
You said we were a democracy. We're not. edit: No, you said something even worse, you said we were supposed to be libertarians!
and thats a bad thing why? [editline]09:04PM[/editline]
so now you want to argue semantics? technically all weapons are assault weapons. why do you think they call it assault with a deadly weapon? and aren't you 13? what is a 13 year old doing with "assault" weapons?
basically they anti gun americans are scared of WASR 10s and CETMEs and AR15s and the like except they probably don't know that none of those are automatic or capable of being automatic. They're essentially just auto loading rifles with large magazine capacities.
You said we were a democracy. We're not. edit: No, you said something even worse, you said we were supposed to be libertarians!
Okay so here I go: The Founding Fathers like liberty, right? We can all agree on that, yes? And they also hate government, right? Well, yeah. They did. [editline]10:06PM[/editline] Put two and two together and...

Why do you think they created the constitution? why do we have a congress? [editline]02:11AM[/editline]
and thats a bad thing why?
Too much freedom is a dangerous thing
Too much freedom is a dangerous thing? what the ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
Ha, like that'll help much.
Too much freedom is a dangerous thing? what the ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
We have a law for a reason. to keep everybody safe, while taking away the freedom to: Shoot, steal, burn, blow shit up, and kill. The founding fathers all knew that, like a government, freedom is dangerous when dealing with extremes. They knew that right around the political center was the place to be. A carefully balanced government promoting personal liberty as long as it doesn't interfere with other people expressing their freedom. They knew that people are too fucking retarded to do that on their own, so they created a republic, so that they could ensure people don't fuck shit up.

Also you swore so thats one point off.
I'm not talking about anarchy I'm talking about a government run by the people less powerful than the people which was the goal of the founding fathers. Also you swore so thats one point off.
libertarianism is, by definition, as much freedom as possible with as little government as possible, even if it means getting rid of the government. Think: Bioshock.
What they just said was that there is a neccesary balance between all government and no government. On one side, if the people rule, then there will be chaos. On the other side, there will be no freedom, which is why we have a republic. If men were angels, no government would be necessary.
Generally, when a person says that the government is like fire and that it is a necessary evil at best they mean that the government should be minimized. Pretty much all of the most recognized Founding Fathers acknowledged that the more government a nation has the less freedom they'll have. There was a nifty quote back in this thread by Benjamin Franklin about trading in freedom for security.
You're retarded, they didn't hate government. They recognized that a carefully balanced government was necessary. Why do you think they created the constitution? why do we have a congress?
Yeah, they hated the government. The Constitution was created so that power a single member of the government had would be watered down. A government like ours was created so that maximizing government would be impossible. Plus, they lived in a time where their governments abused them and imposed laws that they felt were tyrannical and necessary. I'd imagine they;d be a lil' sore after that.
Too much freedom is a dangerous thing
Hahaha, oh wow. And I'm retarded? Did you just use a video game to draw a universal statement? Uh I think it's time for mister happy to get on the walrus train to sleepieland
