Fair enough. But now I want to know what the hell is wrong with the word brouhaha
why
So here's a time line. King gets arrested and sent to prison, he gets out and drinks even though it goes against his parole. When leaving the party, he sees a patrol car and knows he didn't follow his parole and broke the law. So what does anyone who breaks the law do? Try to get away with it by speeding away from the police. Obviously he doesn't get away and the police give him a good clubbing. After this occurs, angry black folk all over LA decide the best course of action will be to rob stores and destroy property. Because retaliating against the police has to involve ruining the lives of people not involved! So then King takes this opportunity to sue the state and police, and walks away with a cool 3+ million in his pocket
i don't cheer on the man's actions or the riots, but the fact the police were acquitted of what was basically a beatdown is downright criminal.. if he evaded the police, why does he need to be hit repeatedly with batons? just arrest the fucking bloke. [editline]17th June 2012[/editline] plus, the riots were(like the recent london riots) the culmination of years of built-up tension and aggression towards authority, the acquittal of the officers involved was just the final spark that set it off.
Why is anyone celebrating Rodney King. He was a deadbeat drunk/druggie who got in a high speed chase with cops then got dragged from the car and beat up. And since then his pattern hadn't changed all he did was get drunk and get arrested.
The LA riots are a cultural icon for those involved. He exemplifies the victim of the police state.
I was just asking my buddy yesterday if he was still alive... really creepy.
You are comparing Kings assault 21 years ago to Trayvons death?
Both cases were examples of the justice system mistreating minorities and/or initially failing to take appropriate action against the offenders for reasons due to racial bias. I'd say that makes both of them quite similar. The rest of the stuff you listed in your post is just superfluous bullshit.
Good post that makes it clear what happened, but both those paragraphs are damn near identical haha
I'm redundant. Meaning I like to repeat myself. [editline]17th June 2012[/editline]
Fair enough. But now I want to know what the hell is wrong with the word brouhaha
I had no complaints about brouhaha c:
What happened to King is different, very different, than what happened to Martin. King was assaulted by a group of police, the people who are supposed to uphold the law. Instead they went nuts, beating a guy who was on the ground not posing a threat to anyone. Martin was shot by a civilian. Of the two, the King situation is far worse, because it proved the law had been corrupted by the very people wearing a badge. That's not something people see on video everyday. Zimmerman/Martin was one guy killing another, a regular occurence in this country.
Those riots were insane, left 53 people dead, no wonder Americans are so (rightfully) weary of riots
rage against the machine
So he drowned in his pool, probably drunk? A pretty anti-climatic way to go.
Most grown men don't randomly drown in their own pool. There's no way to know if he drowned until they do an autopsy, and see if he has any water in his lungs. As always, when someone who is almost middle aged and is mysteriously found dead without foul cause, i default to the probable of it being an AMI, aka a heart attack. The guy was an alcoholic, that just increases his risk factor for a heart attack.
Too bad Trayvon's shooter wasn't white
how can people not understand that the whole trayvon martin thing wasn't about the guy who shot him, but how the police responded.
I wonder if when the police got the 911 call they just said, "No fuck that, not this again." Jokes aside, it sucks to see people go so young.

My house was less than a block away from where the riots ended and there was fire everywhere. All the ghetto people came out their holes and caused trouble just to make a quick buck by robbing stores and especially the shoe stores for some reason. When they reached the Asian communities it got interesting because many of the Asians had military training and went for their guns and resulted in several shootoouts with looters and for the most part actually turned back the riot around back to cities like Gardena. One Asian store owner got a lawn chair and a rifle and stayed up on the roof for hours threatening to shoot whoever tried to rob the place. There was also a Radioshack manager who was very racist towards blacks and then one day got into an arguement with a black teenager trying to buy something but instead just got racial insults thrown at him said one day he'll be back. During the riot the manager's radio shack was burnt down and the manager fled the city. It's been about a year since I went near the place where the radio shack burnt down but I believe it's still vacant. This is just my 2 cents here regarding the riot itself
That is sad. I saw a few interviews with him. He is a really down to Earth person.
Yeah he was a really down to earth person i mean, king beat his wife while she was a sleep, then he tried to beat a sales clerk with a pipe or something while robbing him, He also beat his second wife, had sexual activity with prostitutes, was picked up for several DUI's. Before the his life time beating provided by police, he robbed a store and was speeding at like 100+ mph and fleeing. Yeah he was a really nice guy, down to earth and all /sarcasm. Yeah he didn't deserve a life time beating from the police, but he was far from a model citizen. He more then likely drowned while being under the influence of drugs. But I'll wait for an official statement before I jump to conclusions. I guess they forget to teach people what happened before the events of his beating. BY NO WAY AM I SAYING WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM WAS RIGHT. It was down right god awful, no one deserved it. But he was committing armed robbery before and fleeing as a high rate of speed. But they don't talk about that, everyone thinks he was totally innocent.
Honestly I think there where some drugs involved, drunk people generally can stay awake enough to swim (unless he had alcohol poisoning).
Um this is exactly the opposite of what everybody says. You'll drown if you are in there and too drunk. You don't need alcohol poisoning. [editline]17th June 2012[/editline]
Not saying that it's safe, but I've driven and swam while seriously drunk. I'm not dead yet, don't you think his wife would've heard like HELP or something? He's a fucking millionaire, of course he's gonna be partying and doing drugs. I think if he was on drugs it would be easy to just nod out while you swim.
I hope you die before you hurt somebody else if that's the case.
